If Clowney and maybe Barr are both gone, you take Watkins without hesitation. Then take Amaro/ Jenkins in the 2nd.Our offense would be VJax (seriously, u said overrated??), MWill, Watkins, Amaro, Martin. ^^^ that should be a lethal offense
If that was directed at me then yes he is.I've seen people say (and mean) that he's an All Pro which is something he's never been close to being and an elite wideout which is laughable unless you incorrectly think elite means at least a 3rd of the league had an elite wideout. He puts together a couple of borderline Pro Bowl seasons and suddenly he''s this top wideout.
Overrated - I think is too harsh. Not Elite I would say only two WR's are at that level (Megatron and Green). But you cannot deny he's a true #1 who is at the top of the league at his position.
I can & will deny part of that, he's a mid level #1 which isn't t the top of the league for his position. If you yourself say only 2 wideouts are elite and others have been saying he's doesn't that by definition make him over rated?Sometimes the truth is harsh, even the best can still be over rated. He's hands down the best guy we have & I'm not saying he's bad, he's just not as good as many around here like to make out he is.
I'd much rather take a guy like Josh Huff in the 4th than use a top 10 pick on Watkins.Watkins is great, but unless he is Megatron or Randy Moss....I'm not using a top 10 pick on a WR.
The two you named are exceptions to the rule. Megatron can very well break some of Rice's records if he remains healthy. But I see your point. I listened to a scout on the radio the other day say that some players at certain positions are homeruns while others are singles or doubles. Watkins is a home run threat, IMO. Whoever we get I hope is a Home run threat whatever position they play.
if the draft gets to pick 5 and Clowney, Matthews, and Watkins are all on the Board, I'm thrilled. I'd take any of the 3 in a heartbeat.... probably in the order listed.
QB, OL, CB, or pass rusher.....that's all I'm ever taking in the top 10. But that's just me.
I wouldn't be surprised by the Watkins pick. Lovie knows his biggest knock was fielding an offense worth a damn. The Bucs have some good pieces on that side of the ball but Watkins would put them over the top.

I agree to a degree if the talent is there but sometimes that's also how you could end up with Jake Locker or Blaine Gabbert instead of Julio Jones or AJ Green.Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson instead of Megatron.Sometimes you have to go against your beliefs (to a degree) to get the best players.Lets say we're left with the choice of Watkins or the pick of a bunch of reaches at those positions what do you do?

What about a more explosive Roddy White?

But we can agree to disagree.

So much fail in this.
Tight end is not a need. Tim Wright is a stud.I would love Sammy Watkins here but if Manziel is on the board you don't pass him up.

I know most folks only know the name Jake Mathews, but I'm pretty sure there are some other great OT prospects in this draft. Most people are projecting 6 OTs in the top 20 picks. Now I'm no good at spotting or scouting OL so I won't pretend to know which ones are the right ones....but I gotta believe giving our QB an extra second or two on every play has more value than adding one flashy WR. If Glennon is a deer in the headlights and getting flustered all day, another wide receiver won't help much. I think if we aren't taking a QB, then we need to go OL or trade back. Then go TE in the 2nd. There are plenty of good receivers to be had in the middle of this draft.

Tim Wright is a serviceable receiving TE. He isn't a stud though and his blocking sucks. Even if he was as good as you claim, we need another TE. Stocker is garbage and Crabtree has shown nothing. Considering most teams try to have three solid TEs, and we have one decent receiving TE that can't block....TE is most definitely a need.

I agree with TBT but like u said there are some good receivers in many rounds. Trade back, pick up an OL then get a TE and Beckham if possible. That's way more value.

That's what I'm sayin.....although I prefer Beckham's teammate Jarvis Landry. ;)

Servicable? Kid had one of the best recent rookie tight end seasons while facing double teams and only having one other threat. He's a rookie.Picking a tight end early is a waste of time when slot receiver, offensive line, defensive end, and hell even QB are definitely bigger needs than finding a replacement for Tim Wright.
