PFF's ranking of the top 75 Free Agents. Two former Bucs in the top 10. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/03/pffs-2014-top-75-free-agents/

just my FA expectation for the bucs1) Edge Rusher, LT & RGthree position of great value where we need to sign some good FA... with no cap loss when you trade/cut Penn & Joseph ($13.4M cap saving)...- LT Jared Veldheer or Eugene Monroe, $9M per year deal (first year cap value: $5M), likely in the range of Texans' six-year, $53 million commitment to Duane Brown.  alt: Anthony Collins/Rodger Saffold on a $5M one-year prove it deal or Penn if he take a $2-3M paycut.- RG Rodger Saffold or Geoff Schwartz, $5M per year deal (first year cap value: $3M), likely in the range of Eagles' five-year, $25 million commitment to Evan Mathis.  alt: Willie Colon, $3.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $3M), likely in the range of Colts' four-year, $14 million commitment to Donald Thomas or Bills Kraig Urbik/Redskins Kory Lichtensteiger contract. - DE Everson Griffen, $5.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $4.5M), likely in the range of Colts' four-year, $22 million commitment to Ricky Jean-Francois.  or Corey Wooton, $4.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $2.5M), likely in the range of Chiefs' three-year, $12.6 million commitment to Mike DeVito or Falcons Osi Umenyiora contract.  would like Jared Allen but he wants to sign with a team that has parts in place and is a contender (Seattle, Denver, New England...), FA market for a great DE could be harder than we think... may consider Michael Johnson or Michael Bennett but Lovie want more than one DE so i'll take the good value...(cap loss: $9-11M)2) nickel back, slot receiver, KR/PR, SLB/MLB & FB"starting/situational" role player- CB Captain Munnerlyn or Charles Tillman, $5M per year deal (first year cap value: $3M), likely in the range of Lions Chris Houston, Cowboys Orlando Scandrick, Dolphins Dimitri Patterson & Bears Tim Jennings contract.  alt: Corey Graham or Josh Wilson, $3-4M per year deal (first year cap value: $2.5M), likely in the range of Bills Leodis McKelvin, Patriots Kyle Arrington, Cardinals Jerraud Powers & Eagles Bradley Fletcher contract.- WR/KR/PR Dexter McCluster, $4.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $3M), likely in the range of Chargers' three-year, $13.5 million commitment to Eddie Royal.        or the Devin Hester/Andre Roberts (or Lance Moore) combo, each $1.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $1.5M each), likely in the range of last year Kevin Ogletree contract for Roberts/Moore, and last year Raiders Josh Cribbs contract for Hester.        alt: Ted Ginn Jr, $3-4M per year deal (first year cap value: $2.5M), likely in the range of Chiefs Donnie Avery contract.        would like Sanders but i think someone overpay with a Mike Will contract.        receiver draft class is too good, we need to draft at least one good receiver- SLB/MLB Daryl Smith or Karlos Dansby, $4-5M per year deal (first year cap value: $2.5-3M), likely in the range of Lions Stephen Tulloch or Saints David Hawthorne contract.alt: the younger Dekoda Watson, Wesley Woodyard, Erin Henderson, $2.5-3M per year deal (first year cap value: $1.5-2.5M), likely in the range of Packers Brad Jones, Lions DeAndre Levy, Raiders Nick Roach & Kevin Burnett contract.- FB Vonta Leach or Henry Hynoski, $1M one-year deal  alt: Michael Robinson or Erik Lorig for vet minimum(cap loss: $7-10M)3) QB, RB, TE, OG & DL competitionneed some vet competition for Schiano/Dominik' 2013 draft class (Glennon, James, Wright, Means, Gholston & Spence), offer better depth/rotation... and a good backup for Nicks with starting potential.- QB Josh McCown or Matt Schaub*, $4M per year deal + incentives (first year cap value: $2.5M), likely in the range of Bills Kevin Kolb & Cardinals Drew Stanton contract.  alt: Shaun Hill or Ryan Fitzpatrick*, $3.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $2.5M), likely in the range of Titans Ryan Fitzpatrick, Colts Matt Hasselbeck & Dolphins Matt Moore two-year contract.QB market is so weak, options are limited... just backup...- RB Toby Gerhart or Darren Sproles*, $2.5-3M per year deal (first year cap value: $1.5M), likely in the range of Chargers Danny Woodhead, Jets Mike Goodson, Bengals BenJarvus Green-Ellis & Titans Shonn Greene contract.  alt: Michael Bush*, Kahlil Bell or Phillip Tanner, one year deal for vet minimum- TE Andrew Quarless or Anthony McCoy, $1.8M per year deal (first year cap value: $1.5M), likely in the range of Chargers John Phillips, Saints Benjamin Watson & Browns Gary Barnidge three-year contract.  alt: Ben Hartsock, Jim Dray or Bear Pascoe, $1M per year deal (first year cap value: $1M), likely in the range of Steelers Matt Spaeth two-year contract.- OG Shawn Lauvao, Shelley Smith or Chad Rinehart (Joseph if he agree to take a $4M paycut?), $3M per year deal (first year cap value: $2M), likely in the range of Cowboys Mackenzy Bernadeau contract.  still need to draft another guard to get rid of Nicks' contract next year- DE Willie Young, Dwight Freeney* or Robert Ayers, $3M per year deal (first year cap value: $2M), likely in the range of Cardinals John Abraham, Falcons Kroy Biermann, Bills Manny Lawson, Lions Jason Jones & Rams William Hayes contract.- DT Alex Carrington, Vance Walker, Earl Mitchell or Kevin Williams, $2-2.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $2M), likely in the range of Giants Cullen Jenkins, Patriots Tommy Kelly, Panthers Dwan Edwards, Broncos Terrance Knighton & Kevin Vickerson contract.(cap loss: $10-11.5M)4) depth (WR, OL, DL, LB & DB) & special team (P & LS)competition for last roster spot with our late draft pick, udfa and last year depth...only for vet minimum salary... all veteran minimum salary have a $570K cap value + $65K or less combined bonus = $570-635K cap figure)- P Shawn Powell, Adam Podlesh or Zoltan Mesko (need to replace Koenen for cheap if he don't take a paycut for the vet minimum... + a good udfa for competition)- LS Andrew Economos (need an udfa for competition)- WR Damian Williams, Mario Manningham, Austin Collie, Jacoby Ford, Marc Mariani, Jason Avant, Jerricho Cotchery or Nate Burleson (need someone to compete with Owusu, Page, Shepard, Dawson, Streeter for the 5th job)- Swing Tackle  Eric Winston, Levi Brown, Winston Justice, Thomas Welch, Sean Locklear, Jason Fox, Charles Brown (need a good udfa for practice squad)- G/T Bruce Campbell or Jamon Meredith (versatility for depth competition)- C/G Phil Costa, Mike Gibson, Chris Spencer or Roberto Garza (need a backup for Zuttah, add competition with a good udfa... or a 3rd day pick?)- DT Letroy Guion, Fred Evans or Kyle Love (need more depth)- DT/DE tweener Israel Idonije, Jason Jones*, Leger Douzable or Adam Carriker (tweener for depth competition)- OLB Dekoda Watson, Jonathan Casillas, Stephen Nicholas, Keith Rivers or Ernie Sims (need a good backup)- MLB Adam Hayward, Desmond Bishop, Kavell Conner, Pat Angerer or Nick Barnett (need more depth... and udfa competition if you dont draft a LB)- SS Darrell Stuckey, Darian Stewart, Craig Steltz or Taylor Mays (McCray & McDougald need competition with ST ability)- FS Nate Allen, Quintin Demps, Dwight Lowery, Usama Young, Husain Abdullah or Kerry Rhodes (need someone to compete with Tandy for the 3rd spot)- CB Javier Arenas, Derek Cox, Mike Jenkins, Trumaine McBride, Sherrick McManis (need more depth competition or a dime back with some ST ability to push Moore, Johnson, Melvin, Carr, Gaitor...)(cap loss: $1.5-2M)total cap loss: $27.5-34.5MBucs have $18.8M in cap space, if you trade/cut Joseph, Penn & Koenen (cap saving: $15.3M), you should have $33M in cap space for free agency...+ you can still rework some deal to create more cap space if needed (McCoy, Zuttah or Revis)would like to see Zuttah take a $1.5M paycut or work on a new deal to lower his 2014 cap value, $3-3.5M per year deal (first year cap value: $1.5M... $3M cap saving for 2014), likely in the range of Texans' four-year, $12 million commitment to Will Montgomery or ex-Colts' Byrd makes absolutely no sense for us . If we could cut Goldson without cap hits maybe , but we can't.

I'd like them to go after Walter Thurmond.Liked the guy in the draft a few years back.  Think he has only 1 strike left on the PED thing, But he was arguably the leagues premiere nickel back last season.Worth a phone call at least.

Retweeted by Evan Silva Matt Zenitz ?@mzenitz  34mPer a source, Monroe wants a long-term deal that averages around $10M annually. The Ravens want him for closer to $8M or $9M per year

As unreliable as Incarcerated Bob can be he has been right at times and just mentioned the Bucs name in the Jarius Byrd mix. Wonder if Lovie/LIcht has some master plan for this.

Only way it could work is if they plan on rolling with the big nickel as their base defense with Baron up as a safety/linebacker hybrid while Byrd and Goldson playback as conventional safeties. Would be pretty sick imo....but very doubtful.

Btw PFT just posted an article stating that apparently Darnell Dockett tweeted welcoming Branden Albert to the Cards. I looked for his tweet must have been deleted.

It would be much better to have Barron back with Byrd. Goldson is a liability in coverage and Barron has much more range and showed that he has the depth and wherewithal to adapt to the leagues hitting policy regarding defenseless WRs. Barron should also continue to get better in coverage from a mental aspect under Frazier and Co. He is already better in coverage than Goldson. Move Goldson closer to the LOS and pray that teams avoid attacking him too often and pray that he doesnt miss as many tackles as he usually does.

In other words, not a chance. The way it works is simple - we eat  $9 million worth of dead money on Goldson. At least it's not adding to the cap. Chances of that happening are near zero of course.

Some interesting ideas, Freeman. I am confused about RB - I'm not paying any $ to bring in a vet.

Dockett posted just a few moments ago that he was joking around and people need to lighten up.

little reach on Gerhart i know, it's just i miss the Dunn/Alstott days... Gerhart was fun to watch in college... i have Lovie's former RBs Michael Bush* & Kahlil Bell on the list for vet minimum.still think we need more RB, Lovie/Tedford want the 1-2 punch backfield and said we're a Run first offense... everyone seems to want competition for Glennon, Wright, Gholston or Spence so i don't see why James/Bobby Rainey shouldn't have competition too... + RB are more injury prone.
