Re-signing Casillas makes sense from a ST point of view. Casillas was also a better downhill than Watson.Watson's pricetag however may be out of reach of what Licht is comfortable with and he may have suitors from other teams. As for Hayward I think he is worth re-signing but not if he is asking too much.
Packers signed CB Sam Shields to a four-year, $39 million contract.PFT
Packers had the cap space to do it so this makes sense from their view.
Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 22mDetails on Sam Shields’ big deal with the #Packers: 4 years, $39M. $12.5M signing bonus. $15M after 1, $21M after 2, $30M after 3 years.

+1...I don't think this is indicative of anything other than their needs and financial situation
@BradBiggs: #Buccaneers and Lovie Smith making a hard push to sign #Bengals DE Michael Johnson. Makes sense. Smith wanted a DE 1st thing he got to CHI.
The speed rusher that Lovie wants, gonna be hard to pull Johnson away from Zimmer in Minny but Lovie is also well respected so it should be interesting.
I'd be shocked to see Johnson go anywhere but the vikings, but who knows.
This would be a surprise but I agree that Johnson will be paid handsomely by some other team than the Bucs haha.
His measurables are through the roof...but his 5 years of production is trash.

4 years of trash production.....in 2012 he had lots of production and was an absolute beast. Some claim he was good in 2013 also but the sacks were just not coming for whatever reason. I can't say for sure , I try to avoid watching Bengals games.
did i read that 4 sacks that year came in a game where trent williams didnt play? we all trash clayborn around these parts but his past season was equal to johnsons 2nd best season. clayborn had 8 sacks his rookie year and its blah. johnson had 12 sacks one year (4 against a guy not in the league anymore) and hes a beast.like i said, love his combine numbers from 2009. love his potential. but is he worth that type of contract?

According to PFF he was still balling last season , despite not getting home very often.

I watched maybe 5 of their games and concentrated on him because I had hopes that we would make a play for him prior to the season, while looking forward to the 2014 offseason. He is very active and plays the run very well. Seemed to get consistent pressure, but didn't get home. Probably comparable to pre 2013 McCoy. Disruptive, but not quite getting his hands on the QB as much as they should with how much they are able to get into the backfield. He isnt as bad as the 3.5 sack label, but he isnt as good as what the PFF numbers indicate. Like always, its always somewhere in the middle when using a headlining statistic like sacks vs PFF numbers, because neither tell the whole story. He is worth a look, but he shouldn't be the only upgrade made to pass rush, and he is probably not worth more than $7mil per to us.

I concur.Preference is Everson Griffen because I don't see any chance that Bennett will be back in Tampa for reasonable $$.
Something to consider during this period...Andrew Brandt ?@adbrandt 2mTime of year when NFL agents' reputations precede them. When some say "Six teams are interested" means "Two called, I called four."Andrew Brandt ?@adbrandt 43sAlso, NFL agents have another name this time of year, esp. when there are reports of interest in their client: "League source."
