The move that'll set up the DE market... This could be good or bad.
@AdamSchefter: Vikings re-signed DE Everson Griffin, as @rapsheet reported. Told it's a 5-year, $42.5 million deal that includes $20 mil gtd, per source.
:o$8.5M per year... not good value for a 6 sacks per year edge rusher$2-3M overpaid
$8.4 million a year for a guy that has never been a full time starter. Michael Johnson might just get $10 million a year, and if that happens, I hope the Bucs are not the ones paying him.
Damn this free agency period is going to suck hard.lulz $8 mil per year for a backup.
@RapSheet: Antonio Cromartie will be released by the #Jets, source confirms. Was just informed.
When the cap rises by $10M per year, veteran players get paid. It is what it is.
GMs really have a chance to set the tone for the future this year. Last year was a start, paying lower amounts for non super stars. I assume though that with the cap increase teams will be stupid with money again.
that Griffin deal just really screwed the DE market up. Vikings way overpaid

Still think its "guaranteed" we are getting one of these vet D-ends ??

Pretty much.
that Griffin deal just really screwed the DE market up. Vikings way overpaid
not really. One contract doesn't effect the market. If Johnsons agent thinks he can double that contract or even 50% better than that, teams will say good luck to him. The "market" is a player to player basis, it's not a market for a position.
I think people over react to the initial amount per year average. Let's see how the contract is laid out and how much is guaranteed before we try to decide if it's a bad contract.
What is the vikes decided to lock Griffen up to this deal after talking to Johnson's agent and seeing what his demands were ?Definitely could be a bad sign.
