Mack played at Cal for Tedford if I am remembering correctly, could be a factor in targeting him if he gets to FA

http://www.buccaneers.com/news/article-smith/Bucs-Sign-12-to-ReserveFutures-Contracts/ebc016eb-39dd-484b-bda8-14347c987a9a CB Anthony, OT Cleary, OL Daniels, DT Dawkins, CB Felder, OG Foster, DT Hunter, K Murray, QB Rodgers, LS Scales, P Schum, and WR StreeterThese guys were signed to future contracts on January 6th.

Those were the practice squad members. It's standard procedure to sign them during the offseason. Doesn't mean any of them stand a better chance of sticking.

Besides Wright I hope we just rebuild the TE position, Stocker is worthless and the others are just blockers, draft a two way tight end to go with Wright. Marc Anthony CB is very high in our scouting department, so thats a name to keep an eye on, not sure about the others and what they offer to the team

Yeah Carr and Anthony are also good fits for the defensive scheme that Frazier and Lovie will be running.  But I like Rashan Melvin that much more to be honest.

The top 5 Centers in the league average $7.4M per year.....so I think Mack should be our #1 target. For $8M a year he would do SO MUCH for our interior O-line. I think that is the best value signing for us and should be our highest priority. Then one of the top DEs.Then all the smaller contract supporting cast upgrades to replace the trash.

Zuttah is way below that average and I think signing Mack and shifting Zuttah over to LG makes the most sense.  You can save some cap space by cutting Carimi too.

That is exactly what I am proposing.

I am all for the Mack signing and back to the practice squad guys, even though it's normally standard to sign those guys I remember in PR Digital Mag they were talking about how high the scouts were on Anthony and how he has a good shot to make the team this year, with better coaching we'll see how he does.

I'm sure there are a few gems in there. I was just pointing out how many scrubs we have on the roster that will almost certainly be replaced. It'll be a busy off season with lots of new faces.

I won't post another list of names because I've already posted several, but from looking at the Bucs salary breakdown for 2014, it's kinda surprising how much we have tied up in scrubs. I count about 20 guys like Skye Dawson and Bradly McDougald? and Patrick Omameh? that are all scheduled to make about half a million next year. No guaranteed money or anything cause they are all scrubs, so if we cut those guys, or most of them....that is an additional $10M in cap space. These are the new faces I keep talking about. We might only get two or three starters in FA....but I bet we have 20+ new faces on this roster in 2014. Bucs Active contracts - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers/yearly/

Didn't Zuttah start out as LG then get moved to center full time where many people here said he was supposedly much better?  Now we want to move him back to a posistion he played worse than he is doing now?  Zuttah isn't a great center, but he is a worse LG if I recall correctly.

I believe you are correct. The problem is, you can't have your Center getting blown off the line. Ideally we could upgrade from Zuttah and not even have him starting, but considering Nicks is likely done and we could/should cut Joseph and his bloated contract...we can do it all at once. Zuttah isn't a great guard, but he isn't a revolving door like Ted Larsen. In the end, your RG getting beat is the lesser evil when compared to your Center getting beat. Center is a very important position and for the price, it's a great value upgrade for us. Hopefully we can upgrade the RG position in 2015.

Dominik's MO was to overpay for lower tier talent early on to groom and develop so in theory they would be bargains later down the road (eg Dotson).  It is a different way to approach things but players like you listed and Carimi are not worth their contracts if they are not starting or an important player on the depth chart.Lots of trimming of the roster ahead as you have observed.

Yes. I believe Zuttah is still a better OC than LG...however it is hard to find an offensive guard as good as Mack available as a free agent.  But if you ask me I think the Bucs should draft a new OC.

It's at least nice that we have reached the point of upgrading talent. The past few years we went into the offseason with gaping holes. I too agree the trenches could use a FA boost to free up the draft. Sign Allen, but keep Bowers. You gotta give him a full healthy offseason under Lovie to evaluate.Sign Mack, and move Zuttah. Maybe a late round pick for depth. Sign Tillman, keep LJ, Gorrer, Macdonald, and MelvinDraft:  1 Watkins, 2 AS Jenkins, WR, OG, and DT. Can't get it all done in one year, look to replace Penn and Joeseph in 2015.

I don't see any reason to get rid of Bowers and I doubt it happens. I think he gets a chance to show improvement under the new staff, hopefully injury-free, and because he doesn't cost much money.

I'm done with Zuttah. He's a worse player than Davin. They should both be cut

You don't see a reason? The guy has had three years and 39 games and he has been a complete bust. How many years do you give a guy before you move on? I think he will get a chance to prove himself in camp, but I don't expect him to make the roster.
