One man's humble opinion going into the season:
*The focus on a go forward basis is 'Continuity' and building for the future, rather than 2 years and out with poor choices for Head Coaches Lovie, Raheem, Schiano, Koetter) and a mish mash of players and coaches that don't fit the next scheme.
*Arians is here to win a Super Bowl.Period. He got his coaching staff back together, has Licht and Glazers commitment. They are one in unison and Arians is calling the shots.
*Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles can see that we need a running game, a Right Guard, a pass rush and the defensive backs are packing Pampers, so it is what it is. Arinas is not rebuilding, he's reloading. What he didn't say is that it will take a couple of years, minimum.
*The Bucs got rid of the big $$$ malcontents/non performers (MeSean and Geraldini) and will continue to pare the roster as needed as Free Agents become available. There is plenty of dollars available when they want it, just not cashing the checks just yet.
*From a scheme perspective, I think it's rather obvious, quit giving up 21 point first quarter point leads, make 90% of your kicks, Blitz, blitz, blitz and run the ball a little better. It's going to be Air Coreyell with all these WR/TE weapons but we have to keep them honest.
*More efficiency in the Red Zone, 7 not 3 points, higher conversion rate
*Minimize the penalties and mistakes through solid coaching (30 coaches in total)
*Two practice fields where EVERYONE gets reps, in order to find diamonds in the rough.
*Minimize injuries through a competent Sports Science staff
*Lot's of guys on one year prove it deals, so no cap exposure next year if they don't pan out
*Most everything depends on the QB Whisperer and his magic. I think he will get the most out of Winston
*Play for next year. By the end of the season, I think that this evaluation year will give everyone a clear picture of what is needed in the draft and free agency. Release the high priced guys next year and draft their replacements.
*Here is one, that not everyone is talking about but I am sure Arians is well aware of....Matty Ice, Drew Brees and Cam Newton aren't spring chickens and in a couple of years, the NFC South could look a lot different. If the Bucs reload for 2/3 years and Winston is 26/27 year old and productive, the Bucs will be in prime position to take over the division.
Every year, we all get on here and come up with magic scenarios to make the playoffs. No more for me. Tighten everything up, take the long view, get it right and win the Super Bowl in 2022...20 years after the last one
