Bucs have many Offseason needs a a To Do List
These are mine
1. Resign Chris Godwin
2. Sign Key Free Agents
3. Keep Draft Picks
4. Rebuild the Defense
5. Add new members to Defensive Coaching Staff
6. Work on Ball Security and reduce Turnovers on Offense
7. Improve Pass Rush for the EDGE and Increase Turnovers on the Seconday
8. Improved Off Ball Linebacker play especially in Coverage
8. DEPTH have players that can make a difference through Injuries
9. Better Clock Management by the Head Coach
In no particular order, heres some quick moves i can think of
1. Restructure Baker Mayfield contract - $21.6M in savings
2. Restructure Tristan Wirfs contract - $19.9M in savings
3. Restructure Antonio Winfield Jr contract - $14.9M in savings
4. Cut Jamel Dean - $10.6M in savings and cut Jordan Whitehead (not sure of savings)
5. Re-sign Chris Godwin to 3 year, $70M deal. The team would actually save about $5.5M in cap space by doing this. Letting him walk would cost us $18.8M while signing him before the dead cap hit would cost us just $13M.
6. Extend Mike Evans a year, lower cap charge this year. Accomplishes 2 things - help our cap situation, ensure Mike stays with us another year, make Mike not have to worry about what happens in the offseason
7. Re-sign Ben Bredeson 2 year, 8 million dollar deal. If it isn't broke, dont fix it. The team was top 5 offense in both pass and rush; non-sensible to try and tinker with it, particularly with a first time play caller taking over
8. Trade 2025 first round pick, 2026 2nd round pick, and 2026 third round pick for Myles Garrett
9. Re-sign Lavonte David to 1 year, $7M deal
10. Sign CB Chavarius Ward to 3 year, $50M deal
11. Draft LB Demetrius Knight II, South Carolina in the second round
12. Draft DL Jordan Phillips, Maryland in the third round
13. Sign Edge Matthew Judon to 1 year, $10M deal
14. Re-sign QB Kyle Trask 1 year deal
15. Draft CB Jordan Hancock, Ohio state in the 4th round.
16. Re-sign Anthony Nelson and Shaq Barrett to 1 year deals
So basically returning the same offense but bulking up on defense - not a complete list but key players
Defensive Line: Myles Garrett, Calijah Kancey, Vita Vea, Logan Hall, Jordan Phillips
Outside Linebackers - Matthew Judon, Yaya Diaby, Anthony Nelson, Chris Braswell, Shaq Barrett
Inside linebackers - Lavonte David, Demetrius Knight II, SriVocea Dennis
Cornerbacks - Chavarius Ward, Zyon McCollum, Jordan Hancock
Safeties - Antonio Winfield JR, Tykee Smith, Christian Izien
