He said value not cheap and garbage. He could sign those players as camp bodies maybe but not players you should count on.
since the new salary cap... great and good FA are over paid... that's why the new GM say he want our top players through the draft and only good value in free agency... a top player makes $7-8M minimum per year and a good/average players takes $5/7M per year deal... unless you're a real contender, do not expect any friendly deal!at best, you may have two or three friendly deal with Lovie's former player...look at 2013 FA signing in Arizona:resign Carson Palmer, three-year deal for $26M (+ $4M available through incentives)John Abraham, two-year deal for $4.6M (+ $1.4M available through incentives) Drew Stanton, three-year deal for $8.2MJerraud Powers, three-year deal for $10.5MLorenzo Alexander, three-year deal for $4.62MJasper Brinkley, two-year $3.5MYeremiah Bell, one-year for $905KKarlos Dansby, one-year for $2.25MAntoine Cason, one-year for $1.5/2MRashard Mendenhall, one-year for $2.5MEric Winston, one-year for $2MMatt Shaughnessy, one-year for $1MBryan McCann, Frostee Rucker, Paul Fanaika and Mike Gibson for one-year minimum sal...resign Rashad Johnson, three-year for $4.8M...street FA Jake Ballard, Marcus Benard, Dontay Moch during the seasontrade: Javier Arenas from the Chiefs in exchange for FB Anthony Shermangood value in free agency for Licht = $1-3M per year deal

What an awesome value signing John Abraham turned out to be . 11 sacks and 4 forced fumbles for 2.5 million .Glad we now have a GM with some common sense.
Yeremiah Bell was probably an underrated signing. But yeah this is the type of value FA's the Bucs will look for.
Antoine Cason or DRC and Revis please.

Those are all VALUE signings. John Abraham was an absolute steal. I don't care what his edge is he's still an effective productive player. Atlanta was stupid for cutting him just because he was born in 1978. The players named in the OP are what you call HOT GARBAGE. These players the Cardinals signed were quality role players, not necessarily stars. But they were productive.
Personally I think the Bucs are going to target Eric Decker or Hakeem Nicks at WR. Pettigrew at TE, Mack at Center and either Michael Oher or Roger Safford at OT.
Now those are guys I can see adding something to the team, although I think Decker will get more from elsewhere than we should be offering. I get the feeling NE will open up the check book for him after seeing how wideout deprived they are now and get some payback for Welker.
The Patriots are going to need to be creative if they are going to pursue anyone. Currently they have only 4.1 million open under the projected 123 million salary cap. I believe teams must keep 6.2 million open to sign rookie draft class.

Might they have to cut Wilfork?
I think Tillman gets a lot of attention because of his connection with Lovie, and I have been a huge fan of Tillman for years....but we are talking about a 33 year old guy that is coming off a major injury that put him on IR. I just don't think it's the right fit unless he comes very cheap.I would much rather see us sign Verner or Shields. I don't expect us to be anywhere near as aggressive as we were in 2012 and 2013 though. Maybe one tier one guy, and few tier two guys, and then a whole mess of tier three guys to replace Schiano's garbage can depth he left us.

I think the depth problem was because of Dummynik . It was a problem under Heemy too. Dummynik simply had no clue on how to put together a complete and cohesive team . 1st his strategy was too only use the draft and completely ignore free agency altogether. Then his strategy suddenly became to only sign and overpay for star players. He never had any plan for developing a complete team that works well together , along with quality depth to develop in the wings. For instance . We already have a great SS in Barron , so why sign another SS with the same skill set ( Goldson) but older , less discplined, and on the decline ? How he fit with the rest of the team simply didn't make sense. Then after , that signing , we just stopped.....we did nothing else. Made no sense.Schiano actually helped our depth somewhat .... finding guys like Tim Wright was all him .
Schiano made the depth worse not better.WR wasn't a problem until he came on board and jettisoned a lot of the players on the backend of the depth chart. DL depth was below average because of his decisions.
True he did make it worse in some areas but it's because he thought he had to come in and axe a lot of the guys who were part of Heemy's Quit Culture. As bad a coach as he was , he did seem to have a decent eye for talent. His guys , like Tim Wright and Leonard , were actually decent contributors.Problem is , as usual , Dummynik not filling in enough of those gaps. Role players were available at wr. His answer ? Kevin Ogletree....
James Jones WR from Green Bay.

Could also be higher end role players caught whiff of Schiano's style and said "no thanks".

I think he may receive a bigger pay day than Maclin. Some team will be desperate to throw money at him.
