Mike Tomlin sings happy birthday to Garth Brooks (Video) The Sporting News Robby Sabo 2h ago Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made a very special guest appearance at a Garth Brooks concert. During a Garth Brooks concert last weekend, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stormed the stage to a thunderous applause. Why? I have no idea. The only conceivable reason is that Brooks choose Pittsburgh as the venue for this concert during his birthday weekend. It’s well known that he’s a Pittsburgh fan for all sports. It’s interesting though as Brooks was born in Oklahoma and even attended Oklahoma State University. Nevertheless, Tomlin, with a little help from former legendary Steelers Lynn Swann and Mel Blount, sang happy birthday to Brooks while on stage: videoAs you can see from the video, it was a joyous occasion all the way around. Brooks was decked out in a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, and Swann spoke about the reputation of Pittsburgh fans and Steeler Nation (although there is only one nation, Red Sox Nation). The way I see it is Steelers fans now have public enemy No. 1 in Brooks. Should Tomlin and his franchise falter during the off-season, they’ll blame Brooks for interfering a little too much. It was actually a little scary how comfortable Tomlin was while up there on stage. Perhaps a side career could be in the works.
