A trade I'd pursue if Adams goes to 49ers

I'm thrilled that we drafted Winfield, but still think that safety is our weakest position. Based on metrics, I think Whitehead was ok in 2019, but everyone else was not roster worthy. I like Whitehead, but would love to see him as the 3rd safety, not a starter. I hope Edwards develops, and this would give him more time behind a vet from a quality culture. I'm not expecting anything from Evans at this point.

A player that I've had my eye on is Tartt. He has an injury history, and shouldn't cost too much if the 49ers acquired Adams... especially since he's in the final year of his contract. If we could secure him for a 5th rounder or less, I'd be all over it. I believe our secondary would benefit from a starter who is more seasoned in a successful system than our current guys and he allowed a passer rating of 66.8 and was a solid tackler (Whitehead missed too many tackles).

I know our cap is limited, but we have some easy ways to free some cap and his salary isn't too high. I think we could extend him on a reasonable salary, or at the least, get a comp pick for him to replenish our draft capital.

Due to his reasonable salary, this move wouldn't tangibly impact our negotiations with Shaq, David, or Godwin.

I know we need DL/Edge depth and would still like a vet catching RB, but this would replace what I perceive as our last position with a below average starter with an above average starter at a reasonable price.

This type of move makes sense in a win now scenario with very little risk for our future... not sure if the 49ers would bite though.
