I'm Noping the hell out of this thread, no thanks to Donald at 7.
You wouldnt care for the most dominating DT since Suh at pick 7?
We already have that guy on our team.
We have one dominant defensive lineman. One.

You would turn down 2 on the same team even after the best DE and QBs are off the board?
I think the problem, JD isn't that theoretically it couldn't happen. It's just a question of why you would play a guy at maybe the third best spot. The reason we aren't hearing anything about moving him to DE is because nobody appears to think it's the best use of his skill set. I also think you've created 5 out of 2+2. It goes like this - Bucs appear to like Donald (evidence, 2? meetings). Bucs have a 3-technique. Bucs won't draft a 1-tech. early. They must want to look at him as a DE!Isn't it much more logical that the Bucs rate him highly as a DT and just want to check all the boxes on him in case he drops to them in round 2, or they trade down? We've twice used high picks on the 1-technique - Booger and Price (and around the league it's not terribly unusual). Word is that Lovie is looking for inside penetration and that Spence isn't necessarily a favorite. We really don't have anything on the pine. What am I missing? I just think you are over-thinking something that is pretty simple really.
I think it is more logical that a great pass rusher is a great pass rusher is a great pass rusher and he can play anywhere on the line and make us better.

Well, then I can't help you - that's not logic, it's a tautology.

If I just say Pass rusher once.....does that help?

If we didn't need an edge rusher, WR, and OL then sure.We could get a dominant LT, WR, or Pass rusher at 7. I like Donald but I'm not picking a DT that early when we have the best DT in the game already and nothing off the edge to help him.

Well that changes everything. I think we should draft this guy!
Victory!!!
I don't see how you can watch him run with Suh and still say he is just a DT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr9nWn4gvBQ

I agree with the LT part. I would have Robinson and Mathews ahead of him at 7 for sure. but after Clowney is gone I dont think we can get a dominant pass rusher at 7, and there is no receiver this year worth it at pick 7 especially with how deep the position is. After Clowney is gone, the most disruptive Dline player on a play by play basis is Donald
There's a reason he's not ranked higher...he's only 285 pounds and wins matchups with speed. He's really fast and twichy, but if the guard gets his hands on him and stuffs the initial speed move, there's not much Donald can do. That to me is the obvious flaw in his game...he's not big and fast..just really fast for a D-lineman. If you watch the video you posted, Maylock makes the same point. Like the guy...but would not reach for him dor two reasons:1. The flaw I spoke about2. The depth of the DT position in this draft...I mean you have Donald, Timmy Jerrigan, Louis Nix, Will Sutton, ....and a whole bunch of decent DTs. One or more will be available in the second round.

can Isay he is pr obably a better DT than a DE?

Oh man.. trying to be poilte here, but "wins matchups with speed"... Olineman cant block him because he's too fast and way too powerfull as well. How could you say that when a gaurd gets his hands on him and stuff the initial speed move there's not much he can do when he literally dominated every game he played in?? Where are the examples of the "not much he can really do". How could they exist when he dominated ever game he played in 2013? Nix ,Sutton and the other DTs in this draft are not even in the same realm.

What is that even supposed to mean? And what's wrong with "just a DT?"
