In the Tampa 2 you use the under alignment to allow your talented 3-tech to bring inside penetration. Donald would be facing lots on unfavorable doubles while rushing , because that's that the NT does....i.e. , wasting his skills ....and how can you question whether he is BPA ....many scouting sites don't even have him in the 1st round , lol None that I've seen have him top 7.
is that single alignment the only one will run? i still find it hard to believe that a team cant use 2 penetrating tackles. i dont understand why a team would take out their run stuffing DT in passing downs either...as for your scouting sites...see what they do after the combine. who cares where charlie campbell has him mocked? i bet dollars to doughnuts he ends up in the first. media wants biggest. solid teams want production and fits.

He looks like he could be a Geno Atkins to me. Definitely worthy of going in the top half of the first. He is not a fit for every team so that hurts him somewhat but if we didn't already have McCoy there would be a lot more here than just JDub wanting him at #7.

Who cares . So long as they engage the center so that McCoy can get up the field. Add the edge rusher so the QB can't roll out and that's all you need. That's what we had when we won the SUperbowl with Sapp and Simeon , and it didn't matter who was playing NT. Did you notice a difference in 2002 after 1st rounder Booger MacFarland got hurt and journeyman Chartric Darby stepped in ?? The Raiders sure didn't....

who cares? for one, its a different league. for 2, we arent gonna run the defense the same way...the league has evolved. its just odd to me that that most everyteam in the league moves a DE inside or pulls their NT in passing situations when all they want is someone to engage the center.it doesnt take a #1 pick at DE to keep the QB from rolling out. clayborn can do that. (might take a #1 pick to beat a LT off the snap and also to power him)

I dont agree with that, but I do think he is the best DT since Suh. The guy is a top 10 player in this draft. Sorry to those who disagree but it is what it is and Donald wrecked Olines game after game. Its not about whether he's the BPA available or not, its about should we draft a DT over an OT like Robinson, and we probably shouldnt. but the point is Donald will be a legit option as a top 10 pick regardless of what the media mocks say.

exactly. outside of Clowney the best edge rusher is a 250 outside LB. Basically outside Clowney, the best guy whos going to get after the QB on a consistent basis is Donald. Draft Donald, sign a DE and our Dline should be exactly where we want it. For a long time too. You also get insurance from being completely screwed if McCoy goes down.
Mack Barr and Clowney can be , and I rate all above a guy we'd have to play at NT.
