Yeah I saw that he said he would take Mack #1. I don't see anywhere that claims he would make him a 4-3 Sam linebacker.

It's worth noting that while Johnson was 15lbs lighter at the combine, he has been playing at 285lbs for most of his NFL career. Hasn't been a problem for him. I also threw in Geno Adkins since that is the comparison Donald gets a lot. I think it shows just how close these three guys are in size and ability. To me, it shows that all three of these guys could be great at UT or LDE. *Threw in our own Adrian Clayborn too.

Yes....Sam....in a 3-4. How are you not getting this?

After watching his practices at the Senior Bowl...where he couldn't be blocked....and now with the show he put on at the combine....I want him in a Bucs uniform next year. To me lining him up next to McCoy would cause the OLine big problems. I think Donald is fast enough to put him at DE and tell him to go hunt the RBs and QBs....

Since you want to duck and dodge this, I'll post the quote here...Appearing on Minneapolis radio station KFAN on Friday morning, Mayock said he would take Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack first overall. Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher was the No. 1 pick in the ’13 draft. “He’s explosive off the edge, he’s tough, he’s twitchy, he’s got a little edge about him,” Mayock said of Mack. Buffalo opened the season with a loss to Ohio State, but Mayock said that when he watched tape of that game, “[Mack] dominated Ohio State like nobody I’ve ever seen dominate them.” Mayock also said that Mack is “really a good kid off the field” as well. “You talk about a kid like [Jadeveon] Clowney, who’s just got superhuman abilities, versus this kid, and if I had a choice between the two, I think I’m taking Mack,” Mayock said. Mayock said Mack is a prototype outside linebacker in a 3-4, but that he also would fit as a “Sam” linebacker in a 4-3, and would really shine in pass-rush situations.

Very nice but you are missing the point. It's not that Barr or Mack CAN'T play Sam in a 4-3. Just about any linebacker can play Sam in a 4-3. It's that unless they end up being the 1 in a million Von Miller clone, it is an absolute waste of a top 10 draft pick. The Sam isn't even on the field in Nickel and Dime, and when they are on the field they aren't rushing the passer every down. You are talking about taking a guy at #7 that will get maybe 10 pass rush attempts per game. It's ridiculous bro. You take them at #7 if you think they can be DEs....period. There is no scenario where a Sam linebacker is worth a top 10 pick in our 4-3 defense. This debate is so awful. Smh.

In this pass happy league and especially in our division he'll have about 10 pass rush attempts a game? You seriously believe that?
Well is he lining up at DE in Nickel and Dime? If not, then yes. He'll be watching from the sideline 50% of the time and when he is on the field he'll only be blitzing half the time.....so 10 might be a little optimistic.

Why would he be on the sideline 50% of the time? Nickel and Dime situations he'll be lining up at DE just like Von Miller does.
Are you seriously comparing players based on Combine numbers JDouble? Really dude?
Are you seriously comparing players based on Combine numbers JDouble? Really dude?
No. I'm comparing similar players and looking at their combine numbers to see how they stack up. This thread is getting repetitive and old. I love Donald. I hope we draft him. Everyone gets it. Imma lock this up and reopen it in a month after we see what happens in free agency.
Russell Lande ?@RUSSLANDE 3hWhen A. Donald worked out at Pro Day yesterday, he was also put through LB drills to consider for 34 scheme & he did very well.
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/3/4/5456006/the-notebook-aaron-donald-master-of-technique ''I never realized how much Pitt moved Donald around on the line, for example. At some point he played each of the four positions on their defensive line: left defensive end, nose tackle, three technique and right defensive end. Not only that, he played them all pretty damn well. That goes back to his high level of technique, which translates to any position up front when you have it mastered.Hell, he got a sack in that same bowl game against Bowling Green rushing from left defensive end. He got off the ball well, swatted the right tackle's outside hand away, finished the move with a rip and then proceeded to run through Bowling Green's quarterback. To reiterate he did this RUSHING FROM LEFT DEFENSIVE END!''
Pewter Report ?@PewterReport 4mSmith also said the addition of @MJ9TRE, Clinton McDonald, or having @Geraldini93 wouldn't prevent #Bucs from drafting a DE or DT at No. 7.
