"David and Evans are tight. And David told Joe that Evans knew David was going to hang up his cleats before he made his decision to go to San Francisco."
The man indeed
top 10 buccaneer all time?
brooks, sapp, evans, barber, selmon likely a tough top 5 to break
Man gave his all everyday he laced it up for Tampa. Will be missed. Hope he enjoys his retirement.
Now the debate... He arguably has better stats and career than PFF merchant Bobby Wagner.
So... He should make it but the pro bowl all pro crap will loom

you could tell from last season that LVD's camp sees the potential challenges.
to me he is a 1st ballot HOFer because of who he is and how he played all these years. But small market, the emphasis on accolades etc. at least makes it a question.
Ira Kaufman
"
David’s lack of Pro Bowls shouldn’t be a major issue. Hall of Fame voters don’t pay much attention to an honor that has been watered down significantly over the years. Instead, it’s his single first-team All-Pro designation that could slow David’s roll into Canton.
Many Hall of Fame selectors are the same voters who fill out All-Pro ballots. Unlike Buc fans, they didn’t see David play on a weekly basis. They didn’t see his consistent excellence as a sideline-to-sideline linebacker."
To me, he is a no-doubter lock for the HoF. Easily top 10 Buc of all-time and maybe even top 7. Top 5 have been set for quite a while as Badabing stated. The guy played inspired defense on some pretty crappy Buccaneer teams with some even worse head coaches. He deserves all the accolades and probably more.
If Kaufman can’t get Rice in I have doubts he can get David in. Both will likely get in through the players committee when they’re old.
Might be Stroud but fair point.

When you take a look at raw stats (not probowls, etc) they are very close. Brooks got accolades, which were likely aided by playing on a defense that was dominant. As far as players from a Buccaneers fan perspective I would have a hard time picking one of them over the other.
There are very few players that I miss. David is one of them. Evans is one of them. Williams is one of them. Brooks is one of them. Alstott is one of them.
David is a Buc.
Brady is a Patriot.
You feel me?

a good breakdown of the case for LVD into the HOF. All the stats together and compared. Lots of quotes
Kudos to Jenna Lane
Hall of Fame can be a popularity contest as well
Warner did it with NFL network, got in
You saw John Lynch being an NFL GM helping his cause
Barber calling games for fox, etc.
David, over the last couple years, has gotten out there on podcast, nfl shows, etc. so he will get there
Also, by pure stats, he deserves to get in
Luke Kuechly got in playing just 8 seasons. Averaged 157 tackles, 11 TFL, 1.8 sacks, and 3 INT in a 17 game average.
David played in 14 seasons. Averaged 136 tackles, 14 TFL, 3.4 sacks, and 1 INT in a 17 game average
keep in mind the longer playing time also includes years outside of Davids prime.
so he may not be first ballot depending on who else is up in 5 years, but he will get in shortly after.
