I don't see DT as a major need. Our biggest needs are DE, TE, OL, WR, and QB. I can see us signing someone like Hardy or Allen in free agency. I think in the draft...our top 2 picks need to each fill one of those major need areas.
this guy looks awesome!
fact is, anytime you have the chance to upgrade at any position then you do it. Just like Foster Spence has been solid, but thats it. If I though Donald could produce at that level in the NFL then i'd take him at 7, no question!! Plus get a top end DE in FA, then draft a tight end in 2nd round of the draft (rest of draft, o-line), you should be set!

no................just no
Yes......just yes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BB1TEcYFLA Seriously, this kid is a better DT prospect than Suh was. Only difference is Suh is 6'4" 305lbs and Donald is 6'1" 288lbs. Ideally we could trade back and get in in the middle of the 1st, but even if it takes the 7th overall pick, I think it would be a great pick. Imagine replacing DTN with Jared Allen and plugging Donald in next to McCoy. Our d-line would be so effing sick. Fans wouldn't be upset for long.

Awesome gif man!!! I think this is the most underrated player in the draft and my favorite player in the draft by far. This guy will be a major steal. Why does he not get more attention?
Straight beast. Give it time and I won't be surprised if he ends up at top 12 pick. Forget the size, the guy can flat out get after it. He will make some team very lucky to have him.
Remember the last "stud" player that fell in the draft because of his size (or lack of)?? Mr. Lavonte David. If Donald falls to the 2nd, Sign me up all day long. Unfortunately, we have too many pressing needs to use our 1st rounder on him, unless we're able to trade back.

Often times drafting for need instead of taking the best player will get you nowhere fast.
now this is the DT prospect ive been waiting for ever since Sapp left.

Drafting a nose in the 1st round wouldn't be an ideal pick but if we had thoughts about moving him to DE I wouldn't mind I know its his first step that makes him hard to stop but I believe good football players can be put anywhere and succeed
I think people get too caught up in labels. He's a great all around DT. Outstanding vs the run and thrives at pass rushing. I think he would be great whether he is to the left or the right of GMAC.I'm not bashing Spence either. I actually really like Spence. I just think Donald is a great prospect. I'd hate to see him be another Geno Adkins that we could of drafted.
agreed.with clayborn being such a big DE and having the linebackers/safeties that we do, I'm not too worried about getting run on because we have Donald in instead of SpenceI could see us returning to the 2 pass rushing DT scheme, a la sapp / booger-culpepper - that seemed to work

I completely agree JDub, but at #7, there will be plenty of premium players that will also fill a need (Particularly WR, OT, DE or QB). Would Donald have as much of an impact for this team as Mathews at LT or Watkins at WR? If he is the player that is going to help get this team to the next level the most, then go for it.
I don't think you draft a guy in the top 10 based on who will have the biggest immediate impact. Gotta think big picture...although I think Donald would actually have a bigger immediate impact than Matthews or Watkins. You add a top free agent DE and Donald to this defense and we are going to be very hard to beat. That D-line would have immediate pressure on QBs and with Revis, Tillman, Goldson, and Barron in the secondary....we are talking top 3 defense potential. Replace Penn with Mathews and I don't see much of a drastic improvement. Drafting Watkins at #7 in a draft that is ridiculously deep with Wr talent doesn't seem like the smart choice either.

the more I think about it, the more I agree with you jdub
