Disagree completely on Donald having more immediate impact than Matthews or especially Watkins. Bucs have to go into 2014 with a plan to replace Donald Penn at LT by mid-season if they want to contend down the stretch. Every year he become a huge liability down by week 10. Watkins could transform this offense. Robinson, Mack, Ebron, and even and maybe especially Sefarian Jenkins could have a much bigger impact than Donald. I like Donald, and he could well be BPA in the 2nd round, but talk of him in the top 20 is silly. I don't know why people reference taking Booger McFarland ahead of Jevon Kearse as good history to repeat.

I don't think you draft a guy in the top 10 based on who will have the biggest immediate impact. Gotta think big picture...although I think Donald would actually have a bigger immediate impact than Matthews or Watkins. You add a top free agent DE and Donald to this defense and we are going to be very hard to beat. That D-line would have immediate pressure on QBs and with Revis, Tillman, Goldson, and Barron in the secondary....we are talking top 3 defense potential. Replace Penn with Mathews and I don't see much of a drastic improvement. Drafting Watkins at #7 in a draft that is ridiculously deep with Wr talent doesn't seem like the smart choice either.

I hear what you're saying, and it's a damn good argument.  We definitely have plenty of options with the #7 pick (which probably isn't a good thing).

Only due to his size, he may be a late first. Which is killer, because one of these playoff teams will snag him if he does fall due to size and he will probably end up as a DROY finalist.

He is a definite first rounder if he doesn't do anything stupid between now and May. This guy has dominated at the Senior Bowl the two practices we have seen. Big time riser. Lovie could decide to go with the Sapp Culpepper approach with the line. But he hasn't moved up to Top 10 status yet then unfortunately won't be there when the Bucs picks next. Could be a trade down target with the right partner.

That's my ideal situation right now. If we could trade back into the teens and take Donald, still get a top 3 TE at the top of the 2nd....and then have another top 100 pick from trading back. That would be my ideal draft as of right now.

Do we really want to spend yet another high draft pick on the Dline if he isn't Clowney?

@ckparrot: @OmarKelly Donald swept all the same post season awards that Suh swept. Outland, Nagurski, Lombardi, Bednarik, CBS DPOY. He's that good.@ckparrot: As we hear about Aaron Donald beasting all over the Senior Bowl practice fields let me remind you of something.@ckparrot: Aaron Donald won the Outland & Lombardi trophies, both given to the best OL or DL in the country.@ckparrot: Aaron Donald also won the Nagurski, Bednarik & CBS DPOY awards, all given to the best defensive player in the country period.@ckparrot: The last player to sweep all five of those was Ndamukong Suh. And I don't even know who did it before Suh.

Donald isn't some flash in the pan. He's good he won't escape R1 and I think Dallas is as far down as he will go.

I would have no issue taking this kid and putting him next to McCoy for the next 5 years.  Everyone loves to point out what a passing league the NFL has become why not to dominate DT who can rush the passer.

Yes......just yes. 69Yxi.gif https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BB1TEcYFLA Seriously, this kid is a better DT prospect than Suh was. Only difference is Suh is 6'4" 305lbs and Donald is 6'1" 288lbs. Ideally we could trade back and get in in the middle of the 1st, but even if it takes the 7th overall pick, I think it would be a great pick. Imagine replacing DTN with Jared Allen and plugging Donald in next to McCoy. Our d-line would be so effing sick. Fans wouldn't be upset for long.

gtfo with that! you have to be joking, Suh was one of the most dominant college DTs to ever play

He looks very impressive. I'm not at all worried about his size. We need to stack the depth on the line to rotate these guys in and out and keep them fresh. At worst he's a 3rd down rushing DT in place of Spence.

Haha please JDouble. Donald is a beast, but as Pepsi said, Suh was on of the most dominant DTs to play college football.

Say what you want but when JDouble likes his guys no comparison is too far off.I like Aaron Donald but he's no Suh level prospect.

as good as Donalds stats are Suhs were slightly better and against better competition.
