Again, can anyone answer what the problem would be with having McCoy and Donald wreaking havoc on the interior? It's not like the nose tackle isn't allowed to pressure the QB and create plays.
We would still have no QB of the future, no WR of the future, no interior OL at all, no TE at all, questionable edge rush, and no coverage ability at S.
So we should draft for need instead of BPA in the top 10? That sounds like a horrible strategy.

In my opinion I think it should be BPA. Who do yal think the BPA is or could be at 7?
The good news is that whoever is BPA will most likely be someone we can use right away. It could be Evans, Matthews, Robinson, Donald and any of them could contribute immediately. Even if it's a QB at the top of their board then that's a good thing in the long run, ideally.

I repeatedly preach BPA over need, but come on, the Bucs just went 4-12 last season. They haven't won a playoff game in over 10 years. They need just about everything. The chance Donald is the only good player available is very slim. There are going to be lots of good players.

Maybe it's not Donald, but in the top 10 you have to take BPA. Reaching for need in the top 10 is a sure fire way to fail. Maybe they have Justin Gilbert graded out as their #1 player in the entire draft and think he will be the next Deion Sanders. Doesn't matter is we have bigger needs, you take the best player available in the top 10. Always.

When asked why not take Donald you said "We would still have no QB of the future, no WR of the future, no interior OL at all, no TE at all, questionable edge rush, and no coverage ability at S." That seems like you want to draft for need. If I took it wrong then I apologize.

wr doesnt have to be a first round pick, nor does G, we have 2 young TEs, we have a huge contract at RE, a guy that averages 7 sacks per year played at LE, and we certainly aren't drafting another S in the first. I don't see any of those reasons as valid.

That's half the team. If you think Donald is significantly better than every player at half the positions on the field, then that's your thing, but chances are there are going to be some really good players available at other positions, too. We're not talking about picking #27.

I didn't necessarily say the #7 pick should be used to fill those holes, I was simply answering the question what the team would be like with McCoy and Donald playing together. Just like if someone asked what the problem with Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley playing next to each other would, I'd say the pass defense would still suck, you have no running game, and a QB who throws a lot of INTs.
Lions were 23rd in pass defense and now shopping both their tackles . That lets you know how that little experiment worked out. That #7 pick better served on an impact position.
I have never seen anyone use the Lions as a template for success. Ever.

Talking BPA is always an excuse for people who can't argue the merits of their own selection. Basically the argument is always that my guy is clearly BPA and everyone else is a reach and thus a bad idea. Donald is an excellent player but there will be other excellent players on the board at the same time. ...and he's wrong anyway, you take the most value anywhere in the draft. The goal is to win on the field not accumulate talent points.

Detroit is rumored to be shopping Suh = Pass rushing DL are not an "Impact Position"
