Any chance the Bucs draft Donald as Gerald Mccoy's replacement due to Mccoy's next contract and how expensive it will be to sign him?
no way...You dont let all pro's entering their prime go...EVER. On top of that, he is the face of the franchise. He's on NFLNetwork showing off new jerseys, etc. Donald has the strength to play right next to McCoy. Give me two guys that can penetrate over one and a "run stuffer" any day.
Analysts always say that pressure up the middle is the hardest thing for any QB to deal with. I can't imagine a better way to get that than a McCoy/Donald duo.

a McCoy/Jernigan duo maybepressure up the middle only works if theres an outside passrush which we currently lack. if not the qb just bails the pocket and rolls left or right

I think your letting Aaron Donald's Senior Bowl performance cloud your judgement. The kid is good but no way he's better than Louis Nix or Timmy Jernigan.

His tape this season is better than either of those guys. The only knock on Donald is his height, if he were 3 inches taller he'd be picked ahead of them (he still might be). The senior bowl performance just solidified what his tape showed.

Been explained why it's terrible value in the 1st round to draft a 4-3 nose tackle. Ad Nauseam. He could be a great pick for a team that needs a 3 tech. We have one.

thisJernigan and Donald are great 3techs for the 1st round but we have a better one already. not gonna happen

Different jobs. The NT gets double teamed. That is his goal to eat up 2 blockers. He does this not by being a dominant player but by his alignment - the tilted nose. The simple goal here is this: you want to eat up two players for your one and the "cheaper" that NT is the more bang for the buck you are getting. That player won't be super productive on his own - Culpepper was effective because Sapp ruined backfields for him to mop up. Basically using a "premium" type player on that mission is like using SEAL Team 6 as cannon fodder.

ive been against the 2 DT approach in the past, but i certainly think it could work here. donald wouldnt be drafted to play NT, certainly not in runninng situations . but mccoy has shown an injury history and gets nicked up throughtout games. having donald to give mccoy breathers and stay fresh would only help imo. also, on passing situations both guys can rush creating some inside havoc. and finally, do you guys think our defense could work without mccoy if he does have another injury? donald and attaochu early, lylerla and gallon late, with some OL in FA.

Because we need to add speed off the edge to our pass rush.
