But a LB that is too small and weak to play DE in college can be a DE in the NFL? I'm not gonna waste time trying to convince you of anything. You obviously have made up your mind and aren't going to listen to reason or take part in an intelligent debate. Guess you better hope the multiple visits are some sort of a smoke screen.

I don't know if Aaron Donald can be a DE, I really haven't seen that much of him. But I'm not sure hoping he's Charles Johnson, who is an LE, is the best argument. We'll have a better idea after tomorrow though

I'm not sure if reason can be applied. Is anyone else talking about moving him? Is he doing any de drills?

Why not?  I'd like to be able to rush the quarterback from both ends and up the middle.  That would be pretty cool imo.

Teams move LBs to DE to take advantage of their speed and agility. 4-3 don't move DT to DE tho.We need speed of the edge, we have enough power guys.

For all the naysayers (other than youngone)Adrian Clayborn is our RDE right now, and the RDE is suppose to be the elite speed rusher. If you don't think Adrian is that guy then we can debate that. As much as I love Adrian, I'm not sure he is that guy myself. He needs to have a big year in 2014 or it will be time to look for a replacement. My fingers are crossed that he blows up because I love him and want him to succeed. But he is our RDE in 2014 and because of his palsy he isn't moving to the left side. So what we are talking about this year is signing or drafting a LDE to replace Bowers/DTN/Gholston. The LDE needs to get pressure too, but the LDE is usually expected to be a very good run stopper. So plugging Donald in at LDE gives us an elite pass rusher that wears opponents down with his relentless power and violent hands, he is also a guy that has the size and power to be a top notch run defender. He is also the ideal LDE to move inside on pass rush downs, and on top of all that he is outstanding depth for the UT position should McCoy get injured. Since the UT spot is the most important spot in our defense, that last bit is pretty important. Now Donalds get off is elite and I won't debate that with anyone. Ypu can simply watch his games and see that he explodes off the line. Having him next to McCoy on the left side would be pretty damn difficult to defend. As many have pointed out, the NT gets doubled which leaves McCoy singled on the RG and Donald singled on the RT. Teams can use a TE or RB to help with either McCoy or Donald....but one is gonna be coming one on one and that is a match up I will take all day. Anyone who watches Donald play and thinks your average RT is going to be able to stop him, simply isn't paying attention or doesn't understand football.

OMG can you let me have this for a few minutes before you people start shooting holes it it.  **CENSORED** I'd love to get a DE at 38 who could be legitimate value in that slot.  A LE who can slide inside next to Gerald on passing downs is a fucking wet dream for me.  Then I don't have to worry about paying Tuck.

Can you assholes imagine getting Mack at 7 and Donald at 38.  Playing Mack at Sam on 1st and 2nd (or formation dependent) and Donald at LE.  Then sliding Donald next to Gerald and Mack putting his hand on the ground on 3rd down.  I just came.

I think everyone is obsessed with getting a long lean speed rusher in the mold of Aldon Smith or Chandler Jones.....and I agree. I think we probably do need one of those type guys on the right side, but I'm not talking about Donald on the right side. I think Adrian will get this season to show he can be that guy and if he doesn't, then we'll be looking for his replacement next offs season. We could even draft a guy like Jeremiah Attaochu in the 2nd round this year in case Adrian isn't getting it done. But none of that has anything to do with getting a game changer on the left end. Most people don't respect Bennett or understand how important he was to our defense, but he was getting sacks and pressures, he was locking down the run game, and he was playing inside a lot on passing downs. It was huge for us. Donald is a guy that could give us all of that back and then some, but instead of spending a buttload of money in FA to get Bennett back or get some other old vet like Tuck....we could draft that guy and have him cheap for the next 5 years.

Well, would you take a player in the first round hoping he'd fit the exact criteria of just one successful person? I wouldn'tNot only that, but Johnson is a guy who didn't produce until his 4th year.

I don't care if he plays DE or DT.  If we're able to trade back, and he's the BPA by a large margin (he would be for me) then you take him and figure it out later.  Honestly, he's in my top 5 overall players for this draft.  I understand that the Bucs may not refer to my big board when making the pick, but I'm willing to bet that Lovie Smith can tell a dominant D-line player when he sees one.

the only reason i would draft Donald in the top ten is if McCoy want more than $11-12M per year to stay in Tampa!

I'm with JD on this one, Donald is looking like a good pick for us. I'd like it even more if we could trade down a few spots and pick up an extra pick and then get him as I'm not sold on the idea of getting him at 7. Donald is versatile enough to play inside or on the outside, our D needs to have a front 4 that causes mayhem, adding Donald to it would give our front 4 the ability to cause immense pressure.

Patriots have apparently met with him twice as well. Definitely seems like a Bill Belicheat guy.

Yeah lets move him to End !!! Great idea !!"Weaknesses: Limited scheme projection Lacks scheme flexibility For the NFL, Donald should be a three-technique defensive tackle in a 4-3 defense. If a 3-4 team is comfortable with an undersized nose tackle, he could be in play there, but that is the exception rather than the norm. Donald doesn't fit as an end in a 3-4 or a nose tackle in a 4-3. Using him in a role other than three-technique in a 4-3 could be a waste of his skills. " http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014adonald.php Funny the idiotic lengths Jdud will go to in order to make a case for one of his mancrush's .
