Let's not throw the book at him yet. Following him on twitter/facebook, and he seems like a decent dude. They found an "an unspecified amount of marijuana" in his vehicle. Could just be a burnt roach in the ashtray or stems and seeds on the floorboard. Could've found a whole lot worse.
Really just tried and convicted in one second. Hooray for justice. Maybe people are quick to condemn.
Ha. It's a message board, not a court. Whether it's a pound or a burnt roach, why is there any tiny bit of marijuana in his car? Pretty sure it's ok to react to our starting nose tackle getting arrested for "an unspecified amount of marijuana" because there should be "ZERO MARIJUANA!!!"
How f'n stupid can you be? Doubtful that he has many skills outside of football and if he does, I pretty much guarantee that it won't net him has much money as playing in the nfl. So, let's jeopardize all of that by smoking weed. But wait. That's not dumb enough. Let's drive over 100 mph while I've got the weed in my car because there's no way that an Alabama police officer will search a nice vehicle driven by a black guy. I mean it's such a tolerant and liberal state. Dumb @ss.
If Schiano was my coach and then he got fired, I would blaze up a fatty to celebrate too.
Who speeds while high on weed ? It mellows you out. If I was driving while blazed I'm creeping along at about 40 in the slow lane. ( and only that fast because I'm paranoid of getting a ticket for going to slow )
+1
I don't really care. Pot shouldn't be illegal in the first place and the country is finally, slowly coming around to that fact. It is still illegal right now and so this was stupid on his part....but as long as it doesn't become a pattern....I don't care. Nothing wrong with smoking a joint in my mind, so it's hard to hate on a guy. Just don't get caught next time.Hopefully we draft Aaron Donald anyways, so Spence will be a rotational guy instead of our only legit #2 DT.
This team needed Greg Schiano. The minute he leaves we are back in the police blotters.
It is wrong when it not only illegal, he's a pro athlete, role model, and is jeopardizing his career and his team's fortunes. Gets no pass from me. Sure it's not like he murdered someone but it was stupid in many levels.

Really? Not the debate on whether or not you think it's okay. The fact is that his employer has rules that are in place against this and they pay the dude a pretty solid salary to abide by the rules. It's also a slap to the fans that want their team to be successful and find out starters and big contributors to the team are on drugs. You have to be pretty dern stupid to be a professional athlete using drugs. Like another poster pointed out. Trade a few years and a few million for the drugs? Dumb question, easy answer.

I don't care about atheletes smoking pot from any sort of a moral standpoint. But whether they're wise or not, the rules are the rules. If they can actually succeed in the whole "don't get caught" part of it, that's fine. But if they fail on that part? It's really not "omg, pot is teh debil", it's "you idiot, you're going to get yourself suspended".

I agree. There are rules and you have to be pretty stupid to risk throwing away you NFL career for weed.....at the same time, I don't see smoking an occasional joint as "being on drugs". Many people have grown up smoking recreational pot like others drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. There is nothing wrong with it. It's illegal...but so is my window tint. Doesn't mean it is really a bad thing. Just means the law is stupid. Gotta pick your battles though, so I get what you are saying. I've smoked weed my whole life and I enjoy it. However, I live on a military base and if I was to get caught with pot, it would severely damage my life and my wife's career.....so I don't risk it. Ever. I guess the same can be said for these football players. They shouldn't risk it. Ever.....but they're very young and rich and have lots of free time in the offseason. It's easier said than done. In the end, it is a stupid choice. They can just wait until their career is over at 30 and then smoke weed all they want. I just can't hate too hard on a kid for smoking a joint. Now if he doesn't learn his lesson, and he gets caught again...we have a problem.
If Schiano was still here what do you think he would do?
Is it THAT hard to not smoke weed? You can be a millionaire, all you have to do is not smoke weed for 10 years - nah man, I wanna get high.
Is it THAT hard for anyone to not smoke weed? The risk of going to jail for any amount of time to have a little fun seems asinine to me.
