Alright, going to take a less intensive look at 1st down play-calls on passing plays.
Then I'm going to look at each 3rd down play in greater detail.
1st down passing play defense (without personnel grouping or front):
- Qs
- C2M (2 deep)
- C1M Blitz (DE playing Man on RB and LB comes)
- C3Z Cloud
- C3Z
- C2M (1 deep and MLB mid-zone)
- C3Z Cloud
- C3Z
- C1M Blitz (DE man on RB and 2 LBs come)
- C3Z Blitz (NCB and LB come)
- C3Z
- Tampa 2Z
- C2Z
- Qs
- Qs
- Qs
Few things stick out here:
1) Still an overwhelming majority of Zone.
2) Lots of variety of Zone coverages.
3) Man coverage had some very good disguises where we took advantage of our DE's ability to cover RBs (bringing LBs on blitz). Both of these plays worked (PBU and a Sack).
4) We weren't playing very much Off Coverage despite our tendency toward Zone. Guys were playing inside of 5 yards often (with a fair amount of Press looks).
5) We covered great. There was only a few occasions where we had big assignment failures or busts (Seam/Hook defender got sucked up on a Levels concept once - sucked up on Cross in front and the Dig was hit behind that).
