Going to take a look at our two interior line players drafted in 2018. No idea what I'm going to find with Cappa this week. Vea, I know had a great week (against one of the best interior OL in the league).
Going to do the typical +2 (significant win and then some), +1 (won assignment), 0 (as expected), -1, (lost assignment) -2 (play-defining loss) continuum.
CAPPA:
His first series isn't until the end of the 2nd quarter, the result of which is a 3 and out.
1ST & 10 AT TB 15 |03:08
(3:08) J.Rodgers left end to TB 15 for no gain (J.Lewis).
Outside Zone Toss away from Cappa. His job is to first get a hand on the 3 tech, delaying him enough so Dot can cross his face and seal him or slow him up so he isn't able to pursue down the line and make the play. Then, go 2nd level and take out the MLB.
Well, he does a good job with the 2nd part...but that is because he basically completely ignores the first part of his job. Play-side loses and 3 tech is also in on the play backside because of this.
-1
2ND & 10 AT TB 15 |02:36
(2:36) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Winston pass incomplete short middle to A.Humphries (J.Smith).
Protection is slid to help Jensen with 3 tech. Ball is out instantly to Hump because DSmith loses immediately to an inside rush so this is really impossible to even evaluate (other than DSmith doesn't remotely deserve a 2nd contract).
3RD & 10 AT TB 15 |02:36
(2:36) (Shotgun) PENALTY on TB, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at TB 15 - No Play
3RD & 15 AT TB 10 |02:32
(2:32) (Shotgun) J.Winston sacked at TB 2 for -8 yards (M.Collins).
Again, another OL loses so quickly that its impossible to evaluate Cappa; this time Marpet. 3 tech goes B gap, slap + rip, and murders Marpet for instant pressure.
They once again slide the protection to Cappa's side and Jensen and Cappa deal with the stunt fairly well.
I'm going to go ahead and give him a +1 here because he did a good job with both the initial 3 tech and the DE crashing inside (which the 3 tech then looped around) despite the short period of time to protect (despite the help he received).
