I began my draft prep last week.  Started with QBs and thought I would share with you guys.  I have watched 3 games each so far for these two QBs.  One of them is a bit overrated in my opinion.  You can probably guess who they are just by the notes I share, but, let's have some fun and see if you can identify them. QB1:Tremendous athletic ability.  Smooth runner with the football.  Temp offense involves quick reads.  Didn't see him scan/progress all that often.  Secondary read seemed to be check down or swing route.  Ability to keep plays alive with his mobility.  Doesn't throw the ball away often.  Strength to get zip on passes without cleats in the ground.  SMART (SEE: Lateral @ Arizona 2013).  Can get happy feet and not set before throwing.  He has arm strength, but, accuracy on those throws is a bit off.  Receivers let him down at times, but, still shows some issues with intermediate to deep throws.  Saw quite a few passes to the back shoulder, rather than lead shoulder on crossing/slant/mesh routes.  Works well outside of the pocket. Early Grade: 6.71 (RED)QB2: Excellent play-making ability.  Shows a ton of athleticism for a bigger QB.  Is a "cleats in the ground" type of QB.  He can't get away with throwing off his back-foot or off-balance.  Operates out of both shotgun and from under center - mainly shotgun though.  CAN scan/go through all progressions, however is inconsistent with actually putting it into his game and sometimes appears to have a pre-determined receiver to go to based off questionable decision-making and INTs.  Can also be rattled early if hit.  Shows a penchant for wanting to take over the game, sometimes that is a detriment, as film shows he may actually not trust his teammates.  Internal clock is excellent and so is pocket presence.  Can move within pocket to buy more time for himself.  Accuracy on short/intermediate/deep passes is best I have seen so far out of this year's class.  Off-field issues are a concern.  However, those issues are not quantifiable and will not be taken into account for this prospects grade.  Early Grade: 7.14 (BLUE)
