Hi all.
Just read an interesting nugget on Rotoworld:
"Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports does not expect the Cardinals to join the bidding for free agent Kirk Cousins.
Long one of the NFL's most reliable beat reporters, Jurecki expects the Cardinals to pass on Cousins and instead opt for two cheaper veteran quarterbacks to compete with a rookie, also noting Arizona "needs to get its O-Line figured out." If the Cards are truly out on Cousins, the Jets, Broncos, Vikings, and Browns would be left as his likeliest destinations. The Jaguars dropped out when they signed Blake Bortles to a new three-year, $54 million deal."
It sounds as though the Cardinals may be seeking a bridge QB for a rookie, rather than a multi-year starting QB.
I wonder whether there's any likelihood they may seek to trade up to the Bucs' #7 spot to pick a QB if any of them fell to that spot?
The Cardinals pick #15. Whereas the much-discussed trade with Buffalo would net two first-rounders, those picks are at the back end of the first round. Dropping to #15 might still allow the Bucs to pick a premium player (imagine if Vea fell to them there) whilst collecting some extra picks.
Jason Licht obviously has connections to the Cardinals, so could have that conversation.
Thoughts?
