Only see Trask as a downgrade because he is, as you say, an unknown. Unknowns in the NFL are not typically a good thing…he obviously has some talent, but apparently not talented enough to break onto this roster.
I think we’re getting to the point I am making, though.
Look I choose to See Trasks situation, sumwhat like Rodgers. You know, late 1st rounder vs 2nd rounder, but thematically...both were drafted as "heir apperants" to greatness. Le'Favre and TB12. Rodgers sat for like 3 years and had to "relearn" his mechanics. When He finally got his chance, He owned it beyond his team and fanbases expectations. Is it completely out of the question that Trask couldn't be plugged in and play "pretty good- better than expected" initially then better and better over time? He's sat for 2-3 years already learning and being READY/oncall. I feel for him. In his heart, he just desires a chance. I hope WE ALL get a chance in this Life to show off who WE TRULI are when the bullets are real. Its a much bigger "concept" than just football. Each of us, Trask included, have to surpass our ceilings daily, or we'll become a "dull edge." No way, not me, and hopefully, nun of you bishes either. Go Bucs, and go real ones!!!! Thing is Rodgers has an arm, but his tongue and heart are gross. He was a bish as a backup to LeFavre (IMHO the BETTER QB, he had Ballz-Does no one remember his game after his Father died-That first half alone gave me goosebumps) and has been a bish to anyone brought in to challenge him. So TLDR, Rodgers is just a bish with 2(IIRC) RIngs, at the very LEAST I think Trask AINT NO Bish, and second..if heard his arm is better than we think, from BA and JL, I have no reason to not believe them.
hey son. Listen, you will learn in life that it’s full of disappointments. But it’s how you handle those disappointments and bounce back that helps build your character.
This take of Trask situation being similar to Rodgers is one of those disappointments you will encounter but it’s only the game of football so keep your head up!

I totally get that approach and think it’s great BUT one key difference, at least according to Licht, was that Trask was drafted for this moment in time. He was drafted to have an INEXPENSIVE developmental QB who would hopefully develop BUT who would help us get through this TB12 dead money period.
it seems like Mayfield was an unexpected opportunity taken at Bowles request AND because the team didn’t see much in Trask yet (taken from SR’s comments)
This is one reason that all the Trask stuff last year was a little absurd (and basically Mayfield trolling). There was NO WAY other than injury Trask was going to play. They even let a reportedly very injured Mayfield start late in the season over Trask.
In case this isn’t obvious from hanging on this board MOST (not all ) human beings see their opinions as truth. So, those who believe Trask is a hidden gem CONJURE theories to make Trask the “victim” of external forces outside his control. Bowles or “Trask was better but Mayfield’s experience made him starter”) but the truth of being a competive athlete is that ultimately the cream absolutely rises to the top.
if Trask is half as good as some here say — I hope he is and that the Bucs see that - he will be a starter in the NFL. Mike Glennon was a starter in this league, briefly.
Yes, right now, Trask is Mike Glennon. For more seasoned fans, he is Jerry Golsteyn/Goldstein/Golstein/whereishenow…
I’ve never seen a place that pulls for the backup - just because folks liked them from when they played at the local college…whether that FSU or UF.
its nutty, and its pre-season/off-season fodder. Your take regarding an injured Baker was given the starting nod in Carolina over a healthy Kyle Trask, tells us all what we already know: this is Baker Mayfield’s team. The decision was made.
Kyle Trask is a good guy, has some talent, but the debate is over, at least in Tampa.
And it was a good decision. As evidenced by the fact that he won the NFC South, and a playoff game, and put his own stamp on this team.
All but a few have moved on. The debate about whether Baker is/is not a franchise quarterback, has also been decided. The only thing left is what he will be paid. A coordinator was hired with at least the idea that Baker Mayfield was a good fit to maximize the weapons we already have, the focus shifts now to Mike Evans, Wirffs, and AWJ…and the draft.
solid points Blayton (going to take me some time to get used to this Username BC)…
Yes, right now, Trask is Mike Glennon.
I mean that’s straight up disrespectful to Mike Glennon. Guy had 29 TD passes in his first 2 seasons and 30 overall in his 4 seasons with the Bucs. He’s now no longer in the league last was employed with dolphins in 2022 but his career is something Trask can only hope to achieve as we sit here entering year 4
it can sometimes appear so.The debate about whether Baker is/is not a franchise quarterback, has also been decided
Seriously, you are comedy gold.
I don’t think there’s a problem with my transmit, it may be on your side.
You don’t have to like it, but a contract kinda means somebody thinks so. Otherwise, there’d be someone else you wouldn’t like in front of Kyle Trask.
technically, I guess we should wait for the fanfare…

Thanks for the wisdom. I'm more challenging than you think, though!!! I mean, I Love the taste of Crow (constructive criticism's stuff)
Oh and I let Grammarly rewrite this entire block to see if it was worth the money I spent on it. It should help me be more "understandable" in the future.
