We'll draft a FS. Good safeties aren't that hard to find.
Yea lets get rid of goldson. So we can fill another hole on our team. Or who doesn't want Keith Tandy as a starter? (puke). I swear some fans just love to constantly fill and create holes this isn't madden.
Right, why have a cover FS in this day and age in the NFL.
Where are we getting this allstar cover FS you speak of without spending money on resources that could be better off used on say our D line that had a total of about 20 sacks this year? Or how bout an og that is actually you know good? Or how bout are **CENSORED**ty nickel cornerback situation? No lets just get this allstar fs that covers the whole field then well be ready for the superbowl run.
Might already be on the team...Banks. I like him better as a FS. Lamarcus Joyner from Florida State is Ronde Barber clone.
The best cover FS in the league, Jairus Byrd, is scheduled to be a FA....
agiain how much we paying for him. Or is he going to play here for free to get coached up by his dad. We need a pass rush way more then we need a safety. Need o line more then we need a safety. We need a nickel cb way more then a safety. If goldson wasn't already here and had guaranteed money owed to him Id love to have byrd. But it's not likely to happen.
For Byrd....it would cost roughly what Goldson's contract has him getting paid. Impossible that we go after him, though. I was just simply stating that there was a truly all star safety out there who could be brought in...but yea, we are unfortunately stuck with Goldson.
IMO, it was a monstrous mistake to bring Gholdson in at such a ridiculous salary, not because I don't think he's a great player, who was targeted by the official's IMO, but because he is so similar to Barron and he's not a true CF type of FS. In this NFL of throw it all over the yard, you really need a FS with some speed and ball skills. We already have a big-hitter in Barron, we needed a real ball-hawking CF-type FS. Very bad move by past regime!
BTW, IMO, Banks does not have the speed and quick twitch of a FS, also wonder about his physicality....Safety's are a different breed...fearless, and FS also have to have great instinct and football savvy....IMO, Seattle has the perfect complimentary safety's in Kam and Thomas. Lets let Banks develop as a "big corner" that is such a valuable commodity in todays game.
I don't think Banks has any traits of a FS.
I don't think Banks has any traits of a FS.
Well he's as slow as one....
Good FS safeties have to be very quick. Maybe not great top end speed like a corner....but they have to be able to accelerate very quickly. Banks is scrawny and slow. Some guys can break the mold, like Kam Chancellor, but I think the ideal safety is about 5'11" 210lbs.....definitely not 6'2" 185lbs. Today's safeties have to be able to play the pass and the run equally well. There really isn't a FS and SS anymore, but I don't see Banks having the quicks to play FS or the size to play SS. Just a silly idea imo. He would getting eaten alive inside as nickel too....so he will either work out as a #1 or #2 corner that lines up outside, or he will be a bust. Not really any viable back up plan for a guy with his attributes.
