After listening to Licht and Bowles at their recent press conference, Ledyard and Queipo think the Bucs are very much in the running for Maxx Crosby and that, IF they pulled it off, it would likely involve a trade of a key player.  They were discussing a fist round pick a  3rd round pick and a player, the player being a key asset the Bucs have, especially with Spytek at the raiders, and also a form of financial relief that makes getting Crosby possible.

To them the two most likely players: Goedeke and AWJ

SR's recent Fab 5 makes similar suggestions.

Would you support it? the 2026 1st, Goedeke or AWJ, and a 3rd (or 2nd round) pick for Maxx Crosby?

Both acknowledge trading either Goedeke or AWJ would hurt, but they said the Bucs are very high on JJ Roberts as then back end safety with Smith closer to the LOS.  On Goedeke they mentioned Chuk but also SR's point that it is tough to have TWO high priced tackles.  Their big concern with Goedeke was his contribution to culture, toughness etc

If I had to choose between the two I'd definitely say AWJ.  He hasn't been playing up to the contract the past 2 years, and has been beat deep on several occasions.  Whether thats because he's freelancing, or just out of position I'm not sure as I don't re-watch the all 22 like some do...My preference if we had to give up a big contract player as SR has mentioned would go Godwin.  He's been a great player for us over the years as the second best WR this franchise has seen, but he's getting older, he's looking like he's getting back into form after that injury, and his value might not be this high again.  The bigger factor for me though is that our entire WR room looks like Godwin clones...We don't have another big bodied reciever that resembles Evans, in stature or in play style.  SR aluded to the fact that with the loaded WR room that we have that if Evans wants a bigger target share that the room might be too loaded so if Godwin helps to  swing a trade, and also helps to bring back Evans then I'm good with it, especially since Eazy E had such a strong rookie season.  I'd love to see Evans finish his career here, but I'd also like to see him show another big bodied reciever the ropes the way that VJ did for him.

If this happens, I would be out on Tampa until Bowles and Licht are gone.

The defensive talent in this draft is better than anything we would be getting from Crosby, post surgery, at 29 years old.  Really short sighted crap.  Never give up draft capital so sign an aging, vet who is breaking down.

Spytek would be laughing his balls off if this were to happen.

They discussed Godwin too.  It makes sense from an external perspective but the PR blowback and even team blowback might be much greater than AWJ, for example?

Who knows? Its a business, so . .  .

I should probably clarify again..When I talk about potential trades I'm not necesarilly talking about Crosby....It could be straight up for another player, and perhaps a lower pick or pick swap which better fits Licht's M.O...  Or perhaps as part of a draft day trade to move up and grab someone that the team is really high on.  I'm in no way okay giving up first round picks or future firsts unless the player recieved is in the 25-27 age range simply because of the youth you'd be giving up in the form of those picks cant be for someone approaching the age where drop off begins in addition to a bloated salary.

The more I see of Styles, the more I want him in Tampa.  He should go #2 overall but may actually fall to us.  Here’s hoping luck in on our side.

No.  want exactly do we gain by getting rid of Geodeke or AWJ, plus a 1st and 3rd round pick

The team would actually be worse...much worse

We saw how the offense looks with offensive line not healthy.  We are about 5 players away on the defensive side of the ball and as Crosby shown in Las Vegas....he isn't carrying the D by himself

I'd rather they take a flyer on a guy like Bradley Chubb which will cost us no draft capital and still a guy that can put up 8+ sacks

if you trade for Crosby, and need to cut salary, to me, Godwin likely the only choice and that is assuming you sign Evans.  Otherwise, you need Godwin too.

I am with you on this.

Bucs need to accept that they need to sign two notable free agent edge rushers, draft one and do the same at ILB.  That is your starting point to fix this defense.  Anything else is just not moving the needle.

@badabingbucs Agree on Goedeke, less so on AWJ.  I'm of the mind that if you have a solid line ( on either side ) and that you don't subtract talent , you consistently add more to create stronger depth, or hopefully supplant a weaker starter...As for our safety room we have a lot of options with Izien,Tykee,Roberts etc.  AWJ has not lived up to his contract, and while he's a very good player. he's not playing in that elite category that he's paid to be.  For this reason I think his salary could go towards other positions and his positioned solidly filled with someone that's already on the team.  I feel the same with Godwin.  Very good player, but not 22 million good at this point(especially since we have 2 of his clones currently on the roster), but both given their pedigree and history could be very strong pieces for draft day or FA trade incentive... I'm good with Tampa shedding some fat even if solid players...for me the other that comes to mind would be Zyon.  I think he can be solid, but he freelances far too often, and his eye discipline needs improvement, definitely not worth what he's making currently.  If he's not traded I'd say he needs to bounce back this year or he could play his way out of town with another down year after getting paid.  I'm also all for bringing in Chubb over a trade for Crosby

"Per a league source, the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player for the 28-year-old edge rusher"

"Per a league source, the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player for the 28-year-old edge rusher"

Bradley Chubb

Entering age 30 season

2023 - 11 sacks, 73 tackles, 6 forced fumbles, 11 TFL

2024 -DEAD/TORN ACL

2025 - 8.5 sacks, 47 tackles, 1 forced fumbles, 8 TFL

Trey Hendrickson

entering age 31 season

2023 - 17.5 sacks, 43 tackles, 3 FF, 16 TFL

2024 - 17.5 sacks, 46 tackles, 2 FF, 19 TFL

2025 - 7 games, 4 sacks, 16 tackles, 1 FF, 3 TFL (injury to hip/pelvis)

Maxx Crosby

entering age 29 season

2023 - 14.5 sacks, 90 tackles, 2 FF, 23 TFL

2024 - 7.5 Sacks, 45 tackles, 0 FF, 17 TFL

2025 - 10 sacks, 73 tackles, 2 FF, 28 TFL

We need to ask ourselves, while Maxx may be the youngest, best, and least injury prone, is it not worth taking a flyer on the guys where we dont have to give up draft capital.

We are about 5 players away on defense and none of these guys were able to transform a D by themselves so i'm more on the taking a chance on Chubb or Hendrickson then i would be trading away a key player and top draft capital for Crosby...idk
