We need to ask ourselves, while Maxx may be the youngest, best, and least injury prone, is it not worth taking a flyer on the guys where we dont have to give up draft capital.

This is why the topic was so interesting.  It hard to imagine Licht up for this kind of trade.

If this happens, I would be out on Tampa until Bowles and Licht are gone.

The defensive talent in this draft is better than anything we would be getting from Crosby, post surgery, at 29 years old.  Really short sighted crap.  Never give up draft capital so sign an aging, vet who is breaking down.

Spytek would be laughing his balls off if this were to happen.

I realize the best teams build thru the draft, but at the same time how much draft capital have we wasted? Especially on the dline.

Too much to count.

did the Jpp trade work out for us? Sure did.

Give me the proven commodity. Especially when it’s a generational player like Crosby. His snap count is absurd. The man never comes off the field.

very few players can transform an entire unit.

Crosby is one of them.

I’d give up awj or Godwin. Wouldn’t want to part with Goedeke.

There is no way I would make that trade for either. This draft is so deep at defense that giving away any draft capital is ill-advised. Maxx is great; no doubt about it. We cannot trade the future for the now when this franchise is more than one player away from a championship....and they are......on both sides of the ball.

I should probably clarify again..When I talk about potential trades I'm not necesarilly talking about Crosby....It could be straight up for another player, and perhaps a lower pick or pick swap which better fits Licht's M.O...  Or perhaps as part of a draft day trade to move up and grab someone that the team is really high on.  I'm in no way okay giving up first round picks or future firsts unless the player recieved is in the 25-27 age range simply because of the youth you'd be giving up in the form of those picks cant be for someone approaching the age where drop off begins in addition to a bloated salary.

The more I see of Styles, the more I want him in Tampa.  He should go #2 overall but may actually fall to us.  Here’s hoping luck in on our side.

Agreed, knees. That guy is an NFL stud LB in the making and its not even questionable. Unfortunately, Tampa isn't sniffing him unless they find a way to trade way up. I think after Day 1 of his combine showing with the 40 time and his vertical leap, he's just going to keep climbing. I expect him to go in the top 5.......he's that good. If I were Tampa and I had no way of landing him, I would start looking at CJ Allen, Jake Golday, Jacob Rodriguez, and maybe Jeremiah Trotter. Gabe Jacas is another intriguing prospect that can play as an Edge or LB.

In the sometimes confusing world of the Red Board, Evans might leave to 'win NOW," but Maxx Crosby would come here to . . um . .  "win NOW" with Bowles? But we should reject him so that Licht -- who cannot draft edge rushers - can use the draft capital on . .  an edge rusher!

Interesting offseason! I am not sure how the Bucs make many of the moves they need to when Bowles has got to be on borrowed time.  At least someone like Crosby is a pretty universal fit, but that price????

The one thing we have - bringing us back to the point of Ledyard and Quiepo - is player(s) to trade, especially because Spytek is there. And Brady for that matter.

still seems unlikely

If Crosby is "two 1st rounders and a player" what is the cost of moving up to grab Styles?

"Sonny Styles 1.51s 10-yard split is simply madness. We can end the event tonight. It’s not going to get better than this."

That seems more like a Licht move

I hope Evans stays here. I want him to retire a forever Buc. If he is only after a ring, I just can't see that happening here with the current cast of characters. There are some pretty real issues on both sides of the ball but primarily on the defensive side.

As far as Maxx coming here or Licht and company trading to get him, I personally would not like to give up firsts like that knowing that this team is more than one player away in spite of some of Licht's draft choices and free agent signings at Edge position. That being said, I wouldn't complain about him being here either. He's an impact player that can easily make some of the defensive problems go away with his disruptive play. I might be in the minority, but I think the poor play at the middle and secondary levels last year was a bi-product of not having any pass rush at all or anyone that could disrupt the other teams offenses. Maxx would definitely remove that issue.

As far as Sonny Styles goes, I think he's going to be a great one. I think he is a unique talent and could immediately upgrade our LB corps. Unfortunately, he will be gone before Tampa picks and I would not mortgage the farm to move up to get him when there are other LB options that were pretty darn good in college beyond the top 10 and later rounds in the draft.

It would pose an interesting upgrade if the organization could find a way to trade for Maxx and pick up one of the better LB in the draft between 2-4 rounds. Also I think a player like Crosby makes those around him play at a higher level and this defense could have used a difference maker like that last season.

yeah that price is insane

and you got some guys like Hendrickson and Chubb who are free agents

no doubt injury and age always a risk but I’d rather take a flier there hoping they perform like they’ve been

The team is closer to a complete rebuild, with the Head Coach on one of hottest seats in the NFL, than competing for a Superbowl. I love Crosby, but they will need those picks in the rebuild.

Fab 5

"Would the Bucs be interested in trading for Crosby? I’m sure an inquiry conversation between Jason Licht and Spytek, his protégé, will take place if it hasn’t yet. I don’t see Licht paying more than a first-round pick this year and a conditional third-round pick in 2027 that could become a second-rounder if Crosby posts double-digit sacks this year."

More from Fab 5

As for the player the Bucs could offer up in a trade, it could be safety Antoine Winfield Jr., who is set to earn $19.5 million in cash this year and have a $27 million cap hit whether he’s on Tampa Bay’s roster or not.

Trading wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. might make some sense on the surface given the fact he just turned 30 and is still recovering from a devastating ankle injury. But no team would want to acquire his $22 million guaranteed base salary, and the Bucs would not want to trade away Godwin if they happen to lose Mike Evans in free agency.

Not according to most with a clue. But to the leghumpers among us, sure:

Dungy went 8-8 in maybe his 3rd or 4th season and there were tons of people calling for his head.  The next season the team went 11-5 and should have gone to the Super Bowl, but we had a pitiful offense . . .

The anti-Bowles crowd is a funny one.  The players love him, the players play for him.  He has a top tier staff.  We need to stay healthy and we win this thing.
