Bowles continues to play White even after White whines his way out of the lineup a few weeks ago. Yes, White had 3 flash plays against the Jags, but his overall play was below average.
if you have time, you must go back and watch games, but only watch White. Its comical. He is lost, literally. He misses sooo many tackles. He gets stuck to blocks more than any MLB in the league.
I no longer blame White. He isn’t good and hasn’t been good since the 2nd half of the 2021 season. I blame Bowles for continuing to play him. Our defense plays against the run better with Britt and you finally saw Britt replacing White during drives in the 4th quarter. That was after White lost gap integrety multiple times and missing arm tackles over and over again. Bowles hurts our defense every game he doesn’t bench White.

While this is true, everybody keeps referencing these as great plays by the MLB. In reality, any guy playing MLB would have made these plays. Two of them were blitzes where he went untouched and the third was the interception that came because of another blitz by Bowles.
The concept of WAR doesn’t exist in football like it does in baseball. But if it did, those plays wouldn’t register for White.

definitely not sure about this but on one of those plays it looks like Britt gets up pointing at his wrist, like a watch . .. playing time. Wonder how pissed off he might be.
White is at this point a Catch-22 for Bowles because he is NOT assignment sound but also make plays (in the right circumstances, including blitizing) and is a fire starter and leader on the defense
all fair points though
@biggs3535 - totally agree. But I choose not to argue with the fans that don’t see or understand everything else that’s going on. They can have those 3 plays. The rest of his play is bad.
@bucsbits - I agree with this too. If he’s in we must blitz him. Anything else and he becomes a liability. It even helps put him in his gap, by blitzing him on run plays. It’s like when you have a HS LB that won’t fill the gap or can’t get off blocks… you blitz them in it. Not ideal every play, but that’s why white shouldn’t be on the field in the first place.

To your point:
""Allen's defenses have always performed extremely well against Tampa Bay, and they did again in Week 17. His defense swarmed to the ball, expertly mixed up rush and coverage schemes, and played with a tenacious fury. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael put together a balanced game plan that attacked the middle of Tampa Bay's defense and kept them off balance all afternoon."

Exactly.
I said Bowles was going to play White a lot once he got his health back. It wasn't the first game back but I knew Todd couldn't resist. At least, he doesn't have Devin playing 100% of the snaps.

White is gone when the season is over, but now what does Bowles do for the last game? He just saw the Saints target the middle of the field. Maybe he brings White in if/when we are playing with the lead. Hes unlikely to sit him entirely
who knows?
But they didn’t start replacing him with Britt until it was too late. Britt needs to play 100%.
I agree but doubt it happens in a must-win last game
@bucsbits - I’d say, if White plays a majority of the defensive snaps… we lose. And that will be another reason for Bowles to be gone.

I agree with you and its the reason I posted earlier that Bowles has a little bit of a Catch-22, especially if we get into the lead.
I have ZERO faith in any player who has basically quit on the team for himself and even without that White is a TRUE LIABILITY in most game scenarios (the Saints obviously saw that). But he's Bowles' guy . . . and, right or wrong, a team leader, a big part of the blitz package and a fire starter (when things are going well).
He's playing so it comes down, as you say, to the balance and yes you are right Bowles could sink with him.

It's about as big of a myth of those same people referring to him as a leader in the locker room.
