This game had little impact on the playoffs. I outlined in the other thread that the path to the playoffs is 5-0 in the NFC games.
I think you mean it had little impact on the playoff math. This loss definitely had an impact on the teams chances. Barrett even said as much
and Rachaad White
read their comments and you might wonder if the Bucs are in the playoff hunt even if they are still mathematically
The math takes the emotion out of it. Best Carolina twice, Atlanta, NO and GB and we’re in the playoffs.

What you are not factoring in is the locker room being lost. They don’t have the confidence to go 5-0 in those games. Bucs may be favored in 1 of those games to be honest.
at best, I feel we can go 3-2 in those games with a loss to Jacksonville gets us a to 7-10.
one of the 3 wins I project is next week. Let’s see how Bowles can Bowles against the panthers at home in a must win
If Bowles was smart (he's not), he'd put Trask in and see if he can change the dynamic of the team. At this point, I'm pretty sure the defense has zero faith in Mayfield. Not sure if the offensive players do or don't, but after Baker's comments, I wouldn't be shocked if they're ready to throw him under the bus. Of course, Bowles won't make the change, because "if it ain't working, just keep trying" seems to be his life's mantra or something.

Anything is possible, but that is NOT how it usually works lol.
These are not Mathematicians they are athletes and when you have a couple key players expressing a loss in confidence thats usually not good because there are more and the less experienced ones are losing even more

direct reflection of locker room lost
Must have been talking to the Glazers. The Glazers should be getting pissed at Bowles and Mayfield for being 4-7 while playing one of the softest schedules in the NFL. Also note how Mayfield never places any of the blame for losing on his play.mayfield:

Yes, i think so. I mean, postgame frustration, but yes to se players come out publicly and suggest that other players arent doing their job is a sign that he's lost the team.
Honestly, how could you not feel that way as a player? If you were Winfield and you saw the MLB in front of you over run a QB to let him core a TD or you saw that same MLB getting pushed past you on blocks, you'd be pissed off.

Actually, Mayfield routinely takes the blame
"We sucked today," said Mayfield, who completed 19-of-37 passes for 206 yards and an interception for a total QBR of 22.9. "I sucked today, we sucked today -- it was awful. ... If we play like that, we're gonna lose every time. Defense and special teams did an amazing job yet again, and offense -- we just need to pick our s--- up."
In fact, he volunteered that his offense was to blame after putting up 37 points. Instead of obviously blaming the defense.
Strange that Mayfield is such a polarizing figure. He's not the future for the Bucs and has been terribly inconsistent, even within games, but man if he's done nothing else right he's carried himself well, been a leader etc.
I don't know why so many seem to see the Bucs as a really talented team HELD BACK? They are not. They have a few pieces, but they also INTENTIONALLY have some massive holes. Yesterday, Stinnie made a great block to help spring White on a long run. He also made at least TWO terrible drive-killing penalties. Mayfield threw a terrible, terrible bush league pic that led to a TD, but he also led them on a great drive that included an incredible 4th down conversion.
That kind of inconsistency isn't coaching, its a talent gap. Stinnie has a false start and a holding because he's getting beat or is worried about getting beat. Mayfield was available for peanuts for a reason and if anything he's probably over performed, but the team was BAD before he arrived and it stayed bad to clear cap space.
Anyway, this loss only confirmed how dead Bowles is. The team did NOT step up and play "scrappy," especially not his favorite LB. Short of some miraculous win out streak he is toast and the team is due an actual REBUILD
Yes, this leads to the topic of whether A) Licht put together a team that Bowles wanted, and now Licht will shift gears to suit the new coach, or whether B) Bowles had to work with what Licht gave him and this is Licht's team. Probably somewhere in between of course. But if A is more true, then Licht won't mind making some trades and getting some more draft picks. If B is more true then they will still be retaining that core group of players, at least the top players on the team such as Evans, Vea, David, Winfield, Davis and Dean and continue trying to fill in the gaps again.Anyway, this loss only confirmed how dead Bowles is. In the case of White, that ship has sailed. I have no doubt he was Bowles' project from the beginning, and even Bowles has cooled on him. But overall, I suspect "B" is more true than A. Licht will continue to do what he's doing with the roster. Of course, he will have more salary cap flexibility, and this will be a period of transition, of course it will be if you have a new coach.
But this is Licht's team, and Bowles is just renting it. When there is a new coach on board, it will still be Licht's team. Unless heavy hitter like a Harbaugh or Belichick type gets brought in by the Glazers. Could happen. I'd say probably not, but you can't put it past the Glazers to pull rank on Licht.
