trading draft capital for Tomlin too...ehhh
That's a fair point. Not sure I would give up high picks for him. But I would do something similar to what they gave up for Bruce Arians, which was a sixth rounder.
Steelers owner said he doesn’t think Tomlin will be coaching again, doesn’t look like a trade will be an option.

but if Sean Payton yielded a 1st and a 2nd which i believe the Broncos got a third in return; why wouldn't Tomlin be right around there?
yes, a 6th or 7th round pick, who cares...but 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round picks for him? To be fair to Mike Tomlin, there's not many coaches i would be willing to do that for.
just think we should get with the times
the times being young offensive side coach?
Exactly. Mike McDaniel would be a step in the right direction. Could be the issue was his QB was over-rated and not good. Time will tell
Hope he chooses us.
Probably still a long shot, but yes would be interesting.
This discussion is one reason I said that the focus on the HC is sometimes over cooked. Everyone wants the Bucs to win another Super Bowl. Last season was disappointing, especially the end of season collapse. I was sure Bowles would get fired, but he didn't, so lets see what this next season brings even if its not the plan most here would've chosen.
just another way to think about why Bowles is back

Bayless:
“The final game showed me something, they came out and played some football against Carolina,” Bayless said. “For what it was worth, it was ‘quote, unquote’ for all the marbles, except for what Atlanta did to the rams and reopened the door for Carolina.
“But they showed me something, that [the Bucs] came out and competed in that game. It wasn’t the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen played, but they beat the Carolina Panthers when they had to, and I’m pretty sure that saved Todd Bowles job.”

I was watching the discussion about Tomlin on ESPNs "Get Up", and there was an alarming stat about Tomlin's recent playoff results. The Steelers were one and done and lost their last seven playoff games, and trailed by at least 21 points during each of those games. I have great respect for Tomlin, but playoff failures have been the norm since his last playoff win 9 years ago.
I'm in the camp that the Bucs need an offensive-minded HC. It appears the Steelers may be going that route now that Tomlin is gone.

The playoff losses are a concern, sure. FWIW - Bruce Arians had a worse playoff win percentage, prior to his hiring in Tampa, than Tomlin does now. But Tomlin is a good HC. I could see Tomlin doing what Andy Reid did after he left Philly. Reid was a great coach on Philly, but got even better in KC. It's also worth noting that Tomlin has a current connection to Tampa, as Bruce Arians was his first OC in Pittsburgh.
I'm also good with an offensive-minded HC. I'm not Tomlin-or-bust, I just like him. The organization could do much, much worse.

I don't disagree with the overall point. I would argue Sean Payton stepping away was a bigger surprise for the Saints than Tomlin was for the Steelers. Questions about Tomlin's job security had been around for a while. New Orleans, on the other hand, didn't really want to lose Payton. So they would have wanted more compensation, is my point.
We have no idea what kind of compensation Pittsburgh would ask for a year from now. I doubt they would be asking for first and second rounders, but who knows.

Its a fair criticisms because Tomlin has been their long enough to own all of this.
Would be interesting to know the back story on the Kenny Pickett selection.
The Red Board was aflutter over the prospect of Harbaugh coming here. I thought Tomlin had the edge over Harbaugh (regular season) and even in the playoffs they were .500? I think Tomlin has the better win percentage too. He's a former Buc. But he seems to be a "no" compared to a Harbaugh "yes."
Maybe its the playoff difference.

Tomlin is washed. I'm a hard pass. Reminds me of Lovie Smith (which at the time I liked) but then realize this is largely a young man's league with exceptions like Peyton.
Lovie and Tomlin I respect but I have to agree. Bucs gave Lovie a second shot and he wasn't doing enough. Tomlin probably has had the game pass on him by.

The NFL swings from trend to trend and yes the trend now is young offensive mind. Copy cat league. The run game was dead a few years ago, But, I think Tomlin is actually much younger than Peyton Reid, Harbaugh(s) plural, Bowles, Quinn
I thought Tomlin was something like 52, closer to Vrabel, for example, then any of those guys.
Could be wrong, but "washed" is maybe a bit much lol
