And good on Bowles for realizing how atrocious he is with those decisions.
It wasn’t really up to Bowles.
It's always up the head coach
au contraire
I'm not sure how it's contrarian to say a head coach ultimately takes responsibility for decisions and outcomes but whatever. I don't really care to belabor the argument. The decision worked out

I think the mistake is you said "good on Bowles," but you'd have to ask DH about that.
Maybe when he gets back from placing his bet against the Bucs. Bowles incompetence = cold hard cash!

It's always up the head coach unless they let go of that decision making.
That's his choice.
He rolled the dice and it worked
I was referring to the new game management and time management personnel that was brought on to assist him this season.

Ah gotcha. I bet he embraced it... He's gotta know he's bad at it.

I think between you, DH, and Biggs you've all made your points.
Time to move on... There will be so many new things to debate. 😂

sage words quoted for posterity.

More Ben Solak, ESPN:
How about this comment?
"Few teams draft better than the Buccaneers, who have built a contender from scratch in the post-Tom Brady era"
Here's the whole thing
Reason for hope: Few teams draft better than the Buccaneers, who have built a contender from scratch in the post-Tom Brady era. There are reasonable coaching questions -- they're on their third offensive coordinator in three seasons -- and there's not a ton of proven young talent on defense. But this year's draft class might change that. Meanwhile, the offense has all the pieces necessary to be a top-five unit once again. -- Solak
Reason for concern: Baker Mayfield is coming off the best season of his career as measured by yards (4,500), completion percentage (71.4%) and TD passes (41). Heading into 2025, he is on his third different coordinator in as many seasons, as Ben noted. Mayfield said the fact that new OC Josh Grizzard was on the staff in 2024 as pass game coordinator is a positive. But Grizzard has never been a coordinator on any level, and the constant revolving door in Tampa is a concern going forward. -- Riddick
Nugget to know: How much longer can Mike Evans continue to play at a high level? Evans, who turns 32 on Aug. 21, tied for third in ESPN's receiver tracking metrics last season. His running mate Chris Godwin, who is now 29, ranked fifth. -- Schatz
Bold prediction: The Buccaneers will rank first in pass block win rate. They already have a strong offensive line, and they're a relatively young group, too. -- Walder

Agreed. Tampa, when healthy, is a top 3 OL. From a coaching perspective Carberry is the best in the game. He helps every aspect of our team, but mostly he helps Grizz as he gets acclimated to full-time play calling.
Hope Grizz has the real-time play calling down by first game!
one former NFL player's take
“Todd Bowles. Pretty awesome, would love to play for that guy. Old school. There’s a reason these teams stick together year in and year out,” Long said on his Pushing The Pile podcast, a CBS production. “They have the ability to really just maintain their cool all the time.
“His heart rate is never up,” Long continued, referring to Bowles. “And I feel like that’s the Bucs. I mean, they’re in any game. That’s why they can go on the road and beat the Lions. That’s why I feel like they’re a team that can go and beat the Eagles at The Linc. And it doesn’t surprise me because they have fearless leaders at the receiver position, at the quarterback position, at the head coach position. I’m excited to watch this group. I’m just a huge Baker [Mayfield] fan.”

yeah if this team doesn't miss a beat with him, that would be huge if we have any championship aspirations
and of course to maintain our playoff streak
We will know right away what we have with Grizz. If he can scheme around the loss of the left tackle to the tune of 28 points per game through week 4, than we know we are on our way. I fully expect to be 3-1 after the first four games, and my hunch is we lose to Texas week 2 but who knows. Every NFL game has its (this is how you will die) component to it. I do think, more than last year, Tampa will beat some teams eyes in and this will mute our season points total. Simply because, I just have to believe, that our D is going to be vastly superior to last season’s product. If healthy on D, Tampa wins it all last season.

losing to the Texans is a good bet
would also pencil in the Lions, Rams and Falcons December games as good bets. What do they have in common.....all prime time games
I'm hopeful that our defense will be better because Bowles is now focused on play calling and not shitting the bed on clock management.
