In short many things can be true all at once.

I think Licht is an above average drafter that has some strengths and weaknesses.

I think Bowles hasn't had elite talent in awhile but he's has a smart HOF LB (in his twilight years, an all pro safety, and an elite DT. So he's has some pieces.

+1

Bowles is neither great  . . nor "incompetent."

And the 49ers game is a pretty easy example. Pre-game  . . .. posts of making money on bets AGAINST the Bucs based on "Bowles incompetence."  Not sure that worked out yesterday, but maybe. During game  . . . . .its trolls about DEs in coverage . . as its working lmao

To BE VERY VERY CLEAR . . .  its funny . . . part of football . . no big deal  . . . JUST POINTING IT OUT.

You're right, Vin.

It's "no big deal".

Most people who would view it as "no big deal" would simply look and walk away and not give it a second thought.

A few posters may make a comment or two and move on.

Then there's you.

You have made 47 posts in the last 24 hours alone that mention the word troll (5 in this one alone).

You have mentioned/quoted/tagged @biggs3535 a whopping 18 times in the last 24 hours alone.

The posting of bets that are trolling according to you...over the last 27 regular season games, you've made 68 posts/comments about it.

So, why dedicate the majority of your time to it?

18 out of 47 posts are about me? This pathetic loon posts more than anyone on this site, and 38.2% of the time those posts are about me? That's the sign of a stable, self-aware individual with a healthy amount of shame.

Part of this is my fault. I knew the sad, lonely, shameless bastard was unstable. I shouldn't have mind-fugged the bejesus out of an unstable individual. Not cool.

Just talk but seems consistent with the way they have played so far

“I think the mental toughness has gotten a lot better this year,” Bowles told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “We’ve kind of embraced the grind. You know, playing the first-place schedule, [players] used to look at that as playing all these teams in a row as a burden; now they look at it as a challenge.

“And it doesn’t matter who plays. I think they understand the assignment — to get where we gotta get to it is going to be a lot of different people every week. And that’s what the good teams do and that’s what we’re trying to become. So we’re kind of embracing the challenges week in and week out and guys are really stepping up and maturing, and we got great locker room leadership and their resiliency is outstanding.”

mental toughness is a rare trait

Josh Q and Ben Solak each breakdown a play by Dean, the strip sack(Solak) and the interception (Josh Q). The plays highlight Bowles winning the chess match against Shannon and CONFUSING Jones with coverage disguises . . . and, of course, feature a D lineman dropping in coiverage.

https://www.pewterreport.com/jamel-dean-bucs-interception-analyze-big-play/

This is Ben Solak's description of the strip sack

"Jamel Dean had a strip sack because of a Greg Gaines coverage rep, AKA, why Todd Bowles is very good at this"

And Josh Q on the pick

"The disguise and the blitz did their jobs schematically as they put Jones in conflict."  "Per Sumer Sports, Tampa Bay disguised their coverage on almost half of their snaps against the 49ers. That is over twice their disguise rate up to that point in the season."

Interesting read and watch

Where do we currently rank Bowles among nfl head coaches?

Fascinating question because IF YOU TRY TO LOOK FOR OUTSIDE OPINIONS you get stuff like this before/after of Ben Solak

The "strip sack" video I posted above is Ben Solak EXTOLLING THE VIRTUES of Bowles as a defensive scheme/play caller, the aspect of the HEAD COACH many here would take issue with (especially because Solak is talking about a play that might be described here as "Gaines in coverage," as opposed to "great blitz" lol ), but I point out that CURRENT review because Solak did a ranking of NFL coaching staffs in the preseason and placed the Bucs at 26 . . ..  BUT BASED largely on the absence of Liam Coen:

"Come with me to a magical land in which Liam Coen actually stayed as the Bucs' OC this season (too soon, Bucs fans?) They'd probably be 12th or 13th on this list -- maybe even higher. It'd be much easier to look beyond Bowles, a cautious game manager who regularly settles for field goals and extra points when he should hunt touchdowns and two-point conversions, if Coen's rockstar offense were returning. But it isn't, so those little margins from the head coach glare all the more."

The Bucs are 5-1 and Grizz is looking pretty good. So, take out that Coen praise (because Grizz is comparable) and Solak say the Bucs coaching STAFF was "12th or 13th . . maybe even higher."

Or, try this . . AI gives us this list below of commonly described top 10 coaches. Bowles teams have beaten Harbaugh, Campbell and Sirriani (maybe these two are a wash?) and just beat Shanahan. Pete Carroll is really struggling.

Anyway, that list combined with the results I mention would suggest that Bowles is probably just outside the top 10? 10-15? Like him or hate him his team is currently TOP in NFC and top of many power rankings, even while heavily injured.  Play of Mayfield stands out BUT it was the HC who said go get him. . .For thha matter it was the HC who took Canales, then Coen and then said stick with Grizz

2022 Bucs were 3-3 at this point, WITH BRADY.  2023 with Canales was 3-2.  2024 were 4-2. Now, 5-1

anyway the list:

Rank  Coach Team
1 Andy Reid Kansas City Chiefs
2 Sean McVey Los Angeles Rams
3 John Harbaugh Baltimore Ravens
4 Sean Payton Denver Broncos
5 Jim Harbaugh Los Angeles Chargers
6 Mike Tomlin Pittsburgh Steelers
7 Dan Campbell Detroit Lions
8 Nick Sirianni Philadelphia Eagles
9 Kyle Shanahan San Francisco 49ers
10 Pete Carroll Las Vegas Raiders

Couldn't disagree more with that list unless we're basing it strictly on past success
