Broncos safety says he will walk home in full uniform if they win the Super BowlPublished January 26, 2014. By Justin Arbogast. (Photo By Joe Amon/The Denver Post)Mike Adams, a safety on the Denver Bronco’s roster grew up about twelve miles away from where he will suit up against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII.So the game to him is much more than just a Super Bowl, he will have friends and family gathered from the place that he calls home. The place he calls home however, didn’t give him the greatest time growing up. He calls the place a “cancer” and says that because the negativity can be like a snowball rolling down a hill. But if he and his teammates win the Super Bowl, there will be no showering and changing into a nice post game suit. Adams says if they win, he will stay in full uniform and walk to Paterson, NJ. where he grew up. He say’s it will be somewhat of a statement of pride, him coming off the biggest stage in the world, and into distant memories.“If we win the Super Bowl, I’m going to keep my helmet and pads on and I’m walking home,” Adams said via the Denver Post.“After I get to the IHOP on Route 3, I’ll start hitchhiking,” said Adams. “But they’d probably think I’m just some crazy person.”Some might view it as a crazy move, but Adams say’s it’s much more than that in the town where most kids got a casket instead of a high school diploma. It would be a walk of recognition and hard work for Adams, an undrafted free agent, who grew up without a father and lost his mother to ovarian cancer.Hard work and perseverance could pay off for him, and he’d top it off with a stroll down memory lane, high off life and a Super Bowl Champion.Win or lose on February 2nd though, Adams says his life motto can come down to a simple sentence.“I earned my spot.”
Every year a selected player from each team should do that.Homage to the football gods.
Who cares , Michealbot ?
Nice story, Go for your walk if it makes you feel good...dont be a nancy Jason, lol
Good for him. That is awesome, I hope he does the walk whether or not they win or lose. I went to Patterson once, on a recruiting trip, what a shithole. Crime, drugs, and everything else, out of control there. [no offense to anyone living in that area] Those kids there could really use a good role model like Adams. And it goes to show you, you can develop good character no matter where you start out in life.
