In the 1980 movie "The Blues Brothers," which was set in Chicago, Dan Akroyd and John Belushi traveled the country attempting to put their band back together.New Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith may be following suit, as former Tampa Bay Pro Bowl middle linebacker Hardy Nickerson has agreed to become the Bucs linebackers for Smith.Nickerson is credited with setting the tone for the Bucs turnaround back in the 1990’s. Signed as a free agent from the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1993, the California-born Nickerson, known for his nasty streak, came to the lowly Buccaneers and was an immediate example setter. Nickerson’s attitude and work ethic were something that hasn’t been seen in several years inside the Buccaneers locker room, and at times, Nickerson led not only by example, but also with physical force. Altercations with players that Nickerson felt were giving 100 percent effort are well known in Tampa Bay lore.

Thanks for posting.
Nickerson isn't the LB coach, he's an assistant LB coach
Great idea to bring all these tweemors together in one place! Also, I've read where Marcus Arroyo is to be QB coach and Andrew Hayes-Stoker agreed to be the WR coach.
Nickerson's not the LB coach?
I saw today that Tampa confirmed Hardy was the new LB coach, didn't see assistant involved, this isn't Schiano where he was 500 coaches on one staff and still can't get the job done lol
Still some uncertainty over Nickerson's exact role; no worries! In Lovie we trust... Also saw a tweemor that Kevin O'Dea would be our ST coordinator. He had held the same position with the Jets according to wiki.
3sk thanks this is awesome
I'll add Arroyo/Stoker in the AM. Saw that as well NotDeadYet, very well might be our ST Coordinator. Yeah, I read somewhere Nickerson would be an assistant LBer coach and could provide a source, I may change that in the AM. I've seen some debate on that though.
Assistant LB Coach ? What the hell is that ? Does a coach in charge of about 6 guys need an assistant ? LolI don't believe that report. That would be dumber than Butch Davis' Special Assistant To The Head Coach. Lol
Actually, I've had this crazy idea floating around my head Lovie may use the "assistant" tag in place of the "senior" or "advisory" thing to get Buc Alumni who maybe aren't quite ready to be NFL coaches, or even don't want to be full-time NFL coaches. These guys would kinda stay in the background handing out advise and ideas from their experience. Good Public relations of course too... Can't be any worse than Butch Davis & Jimmy Raye worked out... ;D
I think the confusion about Hardy Nickerson comes from the original wording of the post (and possibly from Rick Stroud's tweet):"As an assistant coaching linebackers per Stroud"I originally read that as an assistant linebacker coach but when I saw all the tweets saying he was the LB coach, I realized it was saying, "He was hired as an assistant; coaching linebackers."I might be wrong, but I think that's why people think he's an assistant LB coach.
