I was just looking at the standings to see what our chances might be of making the playoffs. I'll say right now that if I had any faith in our Head Coach I would have a more positive outlook. But with Lovie Smith calling our defense and how bad the defense has been playing I don't think we have much of a chance. The Division Winners.Packers - They will win their division and get in without question barring a meltdown.Panthers - They will also win the division and get in. At 7-0 they are far superior to all other NFC South teams.Cardinals - They have shown some vulnerability but this is still a good football team likely to win their division. Sitting at 6-2 they have 2 more victories than the Rams and Seahawks.Giants - My best guess as to who wins the East. The Giants usually come on strong at the end of the year and they lead their division in victories with 4.The teams that will not factor in:Redskins - Not a very good team and has lots of injuries too. 3-4 presently.Cowboys - They are unlikely to clinch a playoff spot at 2-5 presently.Eagles - Philly botched their offseason totally by trading Foles for Bradford. They are 3-4 presently.San Fran - At 2-6 and starting Blaine Gabbert, they are done.Titans - With 1 measly victory they are going nowhere.Lions - 1 win is probably all they are getting this year.Bears - At 2-5 they are not going to have any chance.Competing for 2 Wildcard spots:Vikings - At 5-2 they are in good position and surging.Falcons - At 6-2 are in prime position but not playing well at the moment.Rams - This is my dark horse team to take one of the 2 wild card spots. They are 4-3 and their defense is dominant.Seahawks - They are not looking like a great football team but they have been there and at 4-4 are not out of the race yet.Saints - At 4-4 they are a long shot.So there you have it. The Bucs sitting at 3-4 would have to close out the season 7-2 to get a final record of 10-6. I believe 10-6 is probably the number required to get a Wild Card spot in the NFC. My best guess is that St. Louis, Minnesota, Atlanta, and Seattle will fight it out for the Wild Cards and our poor coaching and poor field goal kicking have cost us any chance that we may have had at making the playoffs. There is always next year. Hopefully coaching improves immensely by then.
