Philly.com: Buccaneers Likely to Receive a Seventh-Round Compensatory Pick in the NFL DraftBy Leo Howell - Feb 7th, 2014 at 5:08 pmDecember 2, 2012; Denver, CO. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Erik Lorig (41) during the first half against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports According to Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be one of the teams rewarded with a compensatory pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Kempski has projected compensatory picks with a high degree of accuracy for some time, and seems to have a good grasp on the details that the NFL uses to determine which teams get extra picks. For this season, the Buccaneers will benefit from the decision to let go of Kevin Ogletree before the midway point of the year, as that meant the Buccaneers lost more high-priced free agents than they added, and are thus awarded an extra pick. However, that extra pick will be in the seventh round, meaning it will likely be 250 selections deep into the draft. And unlike other picks, this compensatory selection is not tradable. But before you dismiss this pick, consider some of the players who have been selected with seventh-round compensatory picks in recent years. •Oakland RB Rashad Jennings, 2009 •Colts DL Ricky Jean-Francois, 2009 •Buccaneers FB Erik Lorig, 2010 •Super Bowl 48 MVP Seattle LB Malcom Smith, 2011 Of course, none of these players are superstars, but they all served key roles for their teams in 2013. If Jason Licht, Eric Stokes and the scouts for the Buccaneers can find a player like that in the final moments of the NFL Draft, they’ll have the departed Mark Dominik to thank, and specifically his decision to release Kevin Ogletree early in the season. http://thepewterplank.com/2014/02/07/philly-com-buccaneers-likely-receive-seventh-round-compensatory-pick-nfl-draft/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=Around%20the%20Network
There is a ton to thank dom for. Mccoy, david, martin, revis, and jackson come to mind right away.
Revis? Yeah thanks for handcuffing us to this guy for 6 years.
This is good news. Bucs need as many draft picks they can muster to fill out the bottom of the roster.
are you sure about Kempski's accuracy?Lost: Michael Bennett, E.J. Biggers, Roy Millersigned: Dashon Goldson, Jonathan Casillas, Tom Crabtreeand i'm not sure Brian Leonard or Michael Adams doesn't count?

No guaranteed money means no handcuffs.

I saw this in an article. I would think Crabtree (restricted FA) and Dallas Clark would have factored in too."Lost: Bennett ($4.8m), Miller ($2.25m), Biggers ($1.5m), Hayes ($1m)Signed: Goldson ($8.25m), Landri ($1.6m), Casillas ($1.4m), Ogletree ($1.3m)*The only reason the Buccaneers receive even a single compensatory pick is because Kevin Ogletree was cut before midseason, which means he (apparently) doesn't count for this formula."
Geno Hayes was a Bears in 2012... Dallas Clark signed to Baltimore in August, should not count... Trueblood was cut by Washington...i forget LandriBrian Leonard makes vet minimum and Michael Adams signed in June for vet minimum, not sure they makes the rules?Lost: Michael Bennett, E.J. Biggers, Roy Millersigned: Dashon Goldson, Jonathan Casillas, Derek Landri, Tom Crabtree

Stop it. Mark Dominik was garbage. Yeah, he brought a handful of good players to Tampa, but thats about it. It's a shame it took him half a decade to muster up a list of a whopping 5 players. Thank him? No, instead I will be directing my middle finger his way. Take a look at this very long list of transactions made by Mark Dominik. All of the players listed have either completely bottomed out since signing or, at best, have not lived up to their contract.

Blown an ENTIRE draft class (2009)
And that's without getting into the whole MRSA fiasco, or the way he handled the Freeman situation, or the way he ousted the great Mr. Brooks from One Buc Place, or the way he handled the firing of Doug Williams. This is hardly a person I want to thank. **CENSORED** you Mark! **CENSORED** you!

Drafted nine people in 2010. Less than half of those players are still with the team.

I'd be interested to see how this stacks up against league average
No, look at how it stacks up against the Superbowl champions. That's the goal right? To win the big one? So why would you compare his results to the league average? You are therefore setting the proverbial bar at mediocrity.
Revis? Yeah thanks for handcuffing us to this guy for 6 years.
Lmao another Revis hater. U mad bro?
I think the Revis deal was a bad deal, but claiming the Bucs are handcuffed to a guy with no guaranteed money is pretty silly.

No handcuffs at all. They could release him tomorrow if they wanted too. I think they may re-do his contract this offseason. Now that they have seen he is healthy. They could offer less per year, but have some of it guaranteed. I think he would jump on that.
