BLOW IT ALL UP
All I can say after another blow out, if the Glazers don’t care, I don’t either. Maybe next year, or the next, or never again…
Glazers need to start prepping for the new HC search.
And, that may very well start with a new GM.
Time for a hard reset.
Baker ends up with decent stats except for the one that counts, scoring points to win the game. Most of Baker's yards were in the 4th QTR when the 49's were in a semi prevent defense.
Baker ends up with decent stats
He went 29-45 for 246 with a Tud and a INT.
I wouldn't call that decent.
Did anyone here expect a win?
Lol perfect passer rating! Great gameplan defensive genius!
You all pretty much covered it all. I hope to see Bowles fired and not go through watching the whole season where we flutter up and down the W/L column to mediocre teams. I know it's Canales first year so I want to see him with 3 years before we cut him. I just can't understand why they have one guy that can throw deep and doesn't have to do rollouts so much because the DL is taller than the QB can see. Trask sat under the best QB in the NFL and now he's no good? That doesn't make much sense in development. Just an honest opinion.
Canales calls a hail Mary. Lmfao.
Just a straight up hail Mary...
So what was he supposed to dial up there?
4th and 18, down 13, with barely a minute left, and needing a score and onside kick.
Oh, and zero timeouts.
With all due respect, your CONSTANT over-the-top criticism of al things Canales is making you look really fucking stupid at times.
And your apologist dick riding makes you look like simpy simp.
All due respect of course...
What else could he do? I'd imagine something more creative than a fucking hail Mary.
You're really gonna defend that play call? Seriously?
Canales has been average at best here... he's like Baker. Sometimes you say "oh wow nice" and others you're like "how are you this bad?"
Canales gets a long leash because he's learning but he hasn't managed to put together a good body of work. At moments he's been excellent, but there's a handful of route concepts that he just refuses to use... and his player personel is questionable at best.
It takes him way too long to get the ball to our best play makers (White, Evans, Godwin)
I'll take him gladly over Lefty but it's in large part an extension with a slight improvement of that offense.
Well, I had to comeback after dinner to watch the whole second half after the fact (though not knowing the result). What a waste of my time and energy. The fact they failed to do anything coming out of the half because Mayfield can't throw decent passes at times, just irks me to no end. What really pisses me off is the deep post to Evans near the endzone, wide open and Mayfield throws it way high and behind him. What a twat. Just throw the ball in front of Evans and it's 6, yet we end up with nothing. The batted balls. The dropped interceptions (thankfully). And to those who keep blaming Canales, why the guy isn't perfect and still working at it, the all-22 will show us having guys open on many of the plays that Mayfield failed to do anything with, or when he threw into coverage. One time he threw to Godwin, covered by multiple players, when Otton was wide open to the left for the first. It's crap like that which drives me bonkers, especially when some of you keep blaming the OC, when his job is to get players in position, which he regularly does. The guy to blame is the guy throwing it, or failing to throw it.
They should have never signed Mayfield. They should have went with Trask to see if the pick would pay off or not, but this franchise clearly struggles with strategic thinking. You have a second round QB. Play him and see what you have. If he proves out, you have your guy. If he doesn't, draft one in a QB heavy class. Instead, they went with the "try to save my job with the guy I wanted to draft with the Jets" approach, and we can see how it's going. He makes enough plays that he can't just be benched, but that's what has cost a lot of people their jobs with him. Bowels is going to get fired for going this route. Even IF Mayfield had turned out to be the answer, you'd then be on the hook trying to sign him to a very costly contract at the end of the season. It was a dumb move from the get go and we are paying the price for it.
And your apologist dick riding makes you look like simpy simp.
All due respect of course...
Actually, I've been very openly critical of his sequencing and situational play calling.
But, you're too busy being your usual limp-dicked melodramatic self, and clearly haven't noticed (or are doing so on purpose...all the same).
All due respect, of course...
What else could he do? I'd imagine something more creative than a fucking hail Mary.
You're really gonna defend that play call? Seriously?
AGAIN, considering that situation (which I gave the details...while forgetting to mention that Baker had just taken a sack, thus clock running), what would YOU have dialed up?
Canales has been average at best here...
Depends on what you're talking about.
Passing philosophy? It's been borderline elite.
Route concepts? It's been borderline elite.
Situational play calling? Average at best.
Sequencing? Poor to average.
It takes him way too long to get the ball to our best play makers (White, Evans, Godwin)
This is utter bullshit if you're talking about the entirety of the season.
Time and time and time and time and time again, the film has shown these guys (as well as Palmer, Otton, etc.) NFL open to wide ass open more times than you can count.
And, wouldn't you know it? There's a reason Baker is on his 4th team in 6 years.
He struggles with his reads. He struggles with his progressions. For some weird reason, he's suddenly "trigger shy".
Not saying Dave is the 2nd coming of Reid, but execution has been the biggest factor to the offensive woes this season.

2 dropped TDs. He played ok but it's classic Baker. Inconsistent
If you're going to list the 2 dropped TD's, then you should also list the 5 dropped INT's as well.
And to those who keep blaming Canales, why the guy isn't perfect and still working at it, the all-22 will show us having guys open on many of the plays that Mayfield failed to do anything with, or when he threw into coverage.
Same story every week.
It's egregious.

Yep. It seems like he's always playing sandlot ball out there. I still think his height is part of the issue, but, at this point, I really don't give a shit what is causing the problem. It clearly can't be fixed. His ceiling is what it is, and he's not franchise QB material. While Canales doesn't always sequence plays the best (it is a learning process), he's getting receivers open all the time and the QB is failing to do anything with it because of his reads, or lack thereof.
What's worse is that Trask was KNOWN for his ability to read defenses pre and post snap in college. It was noticeable too me on the first drive he played after Franks got injured against Kentucky. Now translating that to the NFL requires time as NFL defenses do a lot more disguising and have all kinds of tricks to confuse the reads, but we may never know if Trask could fully translate that skill to the NFL. At the end of the day, we're going to end up fully wasting the pick and starting over with a full blown rookie QB, setting us back another year. This year could have been the start of a new era, or not, but Mayfield was NEVER going to be the answer, and Licht should have known that from the start and never entertained bringing Mayfield in. He doesn't even sell tickets, which is one of the lame reasons I've heard for bringing him here.
I'm so frustrated with all of this. Just want to go outside and scream. Don't want to deal with the likely 911 response, though.
