FA signings Josh McCown - competition and #2 behind GlennonAlex Mack - settle and release Nicks, move Zuttah to GJared Allen - slides DTN down the roster, keep BowersPeanut Tillman - competes with Melvin for nickleDraft1. WR Watkins (assuming Manziel is gone)2, TE Seferian Jenkins4. QB Murray5. WR Josh Huff Oregon7. G Spencer Long NebraskaIf JFF is there, great, take him. But don't give up the farm, stay put and take the best player available. We all know who and what Watkins is. I love Jenkins' size in the red zone, and size when blocking. More of an all around TE to go with Wright. His basketball background shows as he high points the ball, and uses his body to box out defenders.Behind McCown and Glennon, Murry can get healthy and be brought along slowly under Tedford. Maybe he is the future, maybe he is trade bait 3 years from now, or maybe he just becomes a solid back up. Either way it's a great value pick.Huff is a prototypical slot reciever with the production and resume. 5'11" 205, not a track star but fast enough to make a defense respect his deep routes. Catches the ball with his hands and secures it. Is a threat with the ball in his hands with lots if YAC potential. Known for his aggressive blocking. He has RB and KR/PR on his resume, but would make a great lead blocker on ST. (My favorite pick, he is this years Swooope for me)Long was a staple on the Huskers line until a knee injury derailed his senior year. 6'4" 315, with a nasty streak. Was known for his pulling and mobility. He might have lost a step with the knee injury, but that's allot if talent for a 7th rounder. I think he is a good scheme fit, and I'm willing to gamble on his knee with a 7th.
I wouldn't choose three pass catchers in a five man draft.
I don't think Watkins gets passed the Rams. No to McCown. Yes to Mack. Yes to Allen. I'd prefer Shields over Tillman. Isn't Rainey a FA? If so, re-sign him or draft JWJr32 in the 3rd (by trading up) or 4th. Your 5th and 7th I don't know anything about so I won't touch it.
Please stop with the move Zuttah to guard! He is not strong enough at the point of attract to get constant movement in the running game. I 70% Carl Nicks is still better that Zuttah. Zuttah is a center in the league. It's not a knock on him that's just what he is.

We're gonna carry 3 QB's?
Agree with masterC, unfortunately. I don't think zut is cut out to be an effective gaurd, especially in a man-power run blocking scheme. Also, I agree with muscle_hamster, I don't think we should carry 3 qb's, we don't have a tom brady, so I think having 2 guys that are close enough for starter talk sitting behind glennon will end up just causing turmoil.I do agree with the rest of the OP too.I think glennon can be the man at QB, so I don't think we go there with our #7 pickIf we sign Allen, then we don't need to look at a DE at #7And Watkins is going to be one of those players that we all are going to wish we had on our team for the next decade maybe, if we don't end up drafting him.I guess I would maybe prefer Matthews, but I'm not sure he'll be there, and I guess we can get by one more year with Penn at LT, despite his declining play.
Not that Hish McCown is all that but st this point he's probably better than Glennon and yet you assume he would be his backup!

McCown? How's about no. Unlike Glennon, Josh McCown is as good as he is going to get in this league and I have serious doubts if he could be Glennon out for the spot.
he started 5 games for the Bears and passed for 1800 yards 13 TDs and only 1 INT for a 109 QBR. Hes better than Glennon.

yeah, dude was BALLIN last season. He's an improvement to Glennon at this point in Glennon's career.
1-yes to 3 pass catchers for the worst offense I the nfl2-I said bring in McCown to compete, I like him out of the FA compitition.3-Zuttah started at guard, and there are only so many moves we can make in a year. I'll admit it was JDubs idea, but I like it.Most excited about Huff in this mock....might have to find some highlight vids to get your attention.
a 4th round pick for a 3rd QB... 2 WR's? VJax, Mike Will, Watkins & Huff...not good value!pass on Tillman, i like him alot but you have to decide if you want to see Banks on the bench? if you take Tillman who is the nickle back?+ Tillman is 33, struggled in coverage this season and you shouldn't break the bank when you already have $16M on Revis and a Top 50 pick in 2013 on Banks!would like the less expensive Captain Munnerlyn or Josh Wilson...no LB's? Watson, Casillas, Hayward & Cutrera = UFAno Swing Tackle? and you keep Penn & Joseph for $13.7M?Koenen at $3.25M is safe?

I really wasn't planning to list out all the cuts, restructures, and lesser signings......I expect at 33 Tillman understands he will be playing nickle. But in today's nfl, and in our division, that's allot. And yes there are better options, but Lovie has already shown that he is bringing in "his" guys, I think it continues in FA.Yes in the 4th rd Murray is great value as a developmental guy, not for today, but for tomorrow. And as far as WR goes, yes having 4 decent recievers, 2 of them on low contracts, makes sense. I think Watkins can contribute now at the slot. Huff might need a year or two and will be ready to step up when VJ is done. (Not replacing, just moving from 4 to 3) Should the packers have passed on Cobb because they had Driver, Nelson, and Jones? How did that work out? I'm tired of short sighted need based drafting. Late rd picks should be used for depth and development.
I'd be cool with the OP's scenario....all except throwing away our 4th on Murray. That guy is a turd. We could could probably get a decent OL prospect instead.
