I read that Murray had the best completion percentage against a six-man rush. Manziel was the worst.

Yes, guy has brains, and leadership qualities. Has the resume against top notch competition. It seems I'm the only one on this bandwagon....plenty of space if you wanna jump on......

I'm almost ready to get on the bandwagon. I need to do a little more research!

Did you read the Brandt article posted above? I'm curious to hear what Mayock has to say about him.

If he were there in the 4th and we hadn't taken a qb it would be a no brainer imo.  I think he could be successful in an offense like what Tedford ran at Cal.  If we don't get a FA veteran starter and role with Mike, I would be very content with Murray competing with him if it means some studs at the top of the draft.  If there is anything someone could say about Jeff Tedford it's that he seems to know (or make) pretty good quarterbacks.  He always had good quarterbacks and most of them weren't very highly recruited coming to him.  I'm pretty happy deferring to his opinion on this subject (it's probably the most appealing aspect of his hire imo) and I hope we lean heavily on his advice.

Although I love Watkins I think bigger need is LT.  WR are available in FA if needed. I would take Mathews or Richardson in first.

If we draft a LT in the first it's a long term move, no rookie will be better then Penn next year. Can we use a upgrade at LT.? Sure, but i wouldn't say its a big need. Draft a OT in the mid rounds to groom to replace Penn or move Dotson over and that rookie becomes your starting RT the following year. This draft is loaded with OT's, probably the strongest position in this years draft.

good OT's were 1st (some 2nd/3rd) round picks, most of the best LT were top 10/12 pick in the draft!starting OT this year:1st round: T.Smith, T.Williams, J.Thomas, Clady, M.Kalil, Ferguson, Staley, A.Davis, J.Long, Monroe, D.Brown, Okung, Gross, McKinnie, Albert, Baker, A.Smith, Cherilus, Castonzo, Oher, Flucker, Bulaga, Solder, Reiff, Pugh, Joeckel, Fisher, L.Johnson...2nd round: Roos, Franklin, Glenn, Beatty, Vollmer, Loadholt, Gilbert, Saffold, Schwartz, Watson, J.Martin, M.Adams, C.Brown, Barnes...3rd/5th round pick: Jared Veldheer (coming from Hillsdale), Diehl, Bushrod, Massie, Stewart, Winston, Giacomini, Free, Armstead, Collins, Barksdale, Cannon, Bakhtiari and Mills...for the udfa you have one exception: Jason Peters... two average seasoned OT's Penn & Clabo... then Strief(7th round pick), Dotson, Waddle, Clark, Dunlap(7) & Bradfield...if you want a good LT, the best bet is a Top 10 pick in the draft and for the RT it's a 2nd day pick or early 3rd day pick!

I'm not sure I get your point, we have a good LT in Penn. Is he an elite LT? Nope.  But replacing him with a rookie does not make us better now.  If your a Browns fan  who would you rather have Joe Thomas or AP? If your a Dolphins fan who would you rather have Jake Long or Matt Ryan?  How many playoff wins have Thomas and Long been apart of? How many playoff appearances? 1? 2? Don't get me wrong I think Matthews and Robinson are going to be studs but it's a deep draft and LT is not a big need.

get real Bucs OL is one of the worst OL in the game since too long...only time this Oline was nearly average was when Carl Nicks was healthy!Penn is an overrated LT, yes he was average a longtime ago, then he got $$$, have weight issue and he is on the decline... and he's making too much money for bottom production!since 2006, Joseph is the most overrated Guard in the NFL and he's one of the most expensive... BUSTat best Zuttah is an average center who only have value cause he can play three/four position, should be a backup!Dotson is good value(ST money), but one good year is just one year production, waiting confirmation next year...Nicks is the only real talent but is career maybe over!take a look at all the best team in the league they have Oline with 1st/2nd/3rd round OT not udfa's, they don't pay big contract for average production!today everyone talk about Blount but take a close look at the block made by a Mankins, you win with good QB, OL and DL!our offense was 30, because our top RB and n°2 WR was on IR, no consistency at QB(freeman then a rookie) and because our Oline sucks!people want to draft and spend big on, QB, DE, slot WR, TE, LB... no problem we have needs here but our Oline is aging(Joseph & Penn 31 in 2014), when you look at the production and the $$$, it's a shame!if you want a great or good LT it's a top 10/12 pick in the draft... if it's not this year, when do you think we will have a shot for a top 10 pick?IMO there is only two position i value in the top 10 more than any other when your team don't have a good player at that position, it's QB and LT... it's not hard to find good WR, DL, G, C, TE, LB or CB... you can have them every year in free agency or with a middle/late 1st round, 2nd round, 3rd round pick... but a top ten LT or QB, it's a one shot every 3-4 years... you dont pass on a franchise QB or LT unless you already have one because you never know when you have another shot!IMO we have to rebuild this Oline in a hurry!1st rule in the draft, when you pick in the top ten and your offense is 30 in the league: you take a top QB or LT if one is here when you're on the clock!

he started 5 games for the Bears and passed for 1800 yards 13 TDs and only 1 INT for a 109 QBR.  Hes better than Glennon.

yeah, dude was BALLIN last season. He's an improvement to Glennon at this point in Glennon's career.

He had better stats than Cutler did too. Yet Cutler was the one signed to a long term deal. Do you think people have been mis-judging him his whole career and he's really the next great thing? He started 5 games. Look at Mike's run of 5 games in the middle of the season. Just another Matt Flynn, yet I do agree with part of your scenario that someone will role the dice on him thinking his 5 great games erases years of back up quality football. Maybe, just maybe, the offensive system does matter? Could it be? Maybe just maybe having two monsters at WR, a monster at TE and one of the best all around RBs in the league really do help! Nah, Glennon should be able to overcome a pile of garbage he has for offensive line, RB, and receivers, not to mention an archaic offensive philosophy.I'm advocating we get the best QB we can find for next year, I'm also thinking that Josh McKnown is a lot closer to what he's been his whole career than what he was for 5 games this year.

I don't think Watkins gets passed the Rams. No to McCown. Yes to Mack. Yes to Allen. I'd prefer Shields over Tillman. Isn't Rainey a FA? If so, re-sign him or draft JWJr32 in the 3rd (by trading up) or 4th. Your 5th and 7th I don't know anything about so I won't touch it.

Why would the Rams take Sammy when they just drafted Austin and Bailey last year?  I would almost bet my savings they trade out for someone wanting QB/Clowney.

Rookie left tackles play. Your odds of "impact" from a  rookie LT are higher than a WR for sure. WR is also by far, by far the deepest spot in this draft. LOT material tends of run out fast because of the premium on athletic ability We've already spent big $$$ on the spot and now people want to add another high end pass catcher? WR by contrast allows you get get a lot of value because while poeple fight over the next 6'3"+ monster who can't run a route or the next 4.31 flyer the guys who can run routes and catch like Matthews or Beckham are sitting there in R2 and later on. This is a great draft to get good and deep at WR but it doesn't need us to go and spend the 7th pick on one.

I agree with you on this dalbuc.  I am fine with them taking Watkins at 7, but only if Clowney/Barr/Mathews/Mack is not there (I am also assuming we arent targeting JFF).  If all those guys are gone, I am fine with taking Watkins or trading back, but I dont think he should trump an upgrade to our OL or pass rush.

I said it before and I'll say it again. As a passer, Kap is no better than Mike Glennon. They are actually very, very similar as passers. The difference is that when things break down, or there is nobody open, or a free rusher comes flying through....Kap will scramble, buy time, and make a play. Glennon will take a sack or throw it into the dirt and we punt. That is a HUGE difference and some just don't seem to recognize that.

Dal,I think fixing the OLine should be priority 1.  As you said, the money that is already invested in WRs is significant and I would like to see them take one of the tackles in round 1 and if possible try to draft Brandin Cooks in round 2.

I think our biggest offensive line need is at the guard positions. Id much rather take Watkins or Mack ( if lovie feels he can play DE) then take one of the Tackles there. Then draft a guard like yankey or Jackson in the early seond round
