@donkey_hunter - With what we currently have there were plenty of options to upgrade. Disappointingly, many of those are gone now, because NFL teams understand how important the position is for success.
With what’s left I’d see what we can do to trade for Riddick or one of the Chargers vets. If not, maybe Verse drops a little and we could trade up and draft him. He has the chance to be a difference maker his rookie season.
I mean, did we have the cap to make any of those moves?
Sure. But, that also comes at the price of not re-signing LVD, Evans, Baker, etc.
As far as Riddick, it's a trade. So, that takes two to tango. And, again, we would have to sign him to an extension. Most likely a hefty one for a guy entering his 30's by kickoff.
I don't mind Licht's strategy this year. He's clearly going to add another EDGE early in this year's draft. Has Diaby who showed out as a rookie in limited time. And, he has JTS and Nelson on contract years.
I want to think we could have instant gratification with a trade for a guy like Reddick…and I’m sure the ties to Arians (he was drafted while Arians was head coach in Arizona), and Bowles (Temple grad, Arizona DC) are well documented. Just not sure the Iggles are seriously regarding a trade - are they just letting him test the market to force him to understand his price isn’t $25m - or are they just making room and the trade option is the real deal?
Beginning to come to grips with my Hasson Reddick fever dream, seems more likely we’ll be drafting Edge and going with current rotation.

@donkey_hunter - we absolutely could have fit one of those edges under our salary cap and still kept our guys. And they have more they can with the cap when they need to.
I like YaYa. But once he became a full time starter, the last 8 games of the season, he had 3 sacks. Is he THE guy? Or a real good #2? Teams can’t gamble and hope with this position.

Dear Debatable Debbie, "I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means." Sincerely, Inigo Montoya
ONE example BUT there are 34 quarterbacks listed? The Bucs are top 10 worst in pressures? ("seems we need O-line")
The table only shows WHERE the pressure came from .. . ON A RELATIVE SCALE.
So without additional data . . . ..
WIRFS is awesome (but also probably not the way opposing teams schemed pressure on us?)
By comparison . . .
The table only shows WHERE the pressure came from .. . ON A RELATIVE SCALE.
Completely clueless and on-brand.

This is always your response when you clown yourself and someone points it out.

PR -
"The team has addressed several potential needs by largely bringing back key pieces of their 2023 playoff team. And the additions of Tavierre Thomas, Bryce Hall and Jordan Whitehead has given the team a starting strong safety alongside Antoine Winfield Jr. while improving the depth of the secondary overall has helped in a key area that was inconsistent last year.
Interior offensive linemen Sua Opeta and Ben Bredeson address depth at the position, but it still remains a glaring hole interior on the roster. Neither Opeta, nor Bredeson, look to be the answer as starters."
ESPN -
"...from a run blocking standpoint, Hainsey produced a win rate of 59.6% -- 45th in the league among centers last year. Bredeson's run blocking win rate was actually worse at 56.3%. It's considered a stronger year for interior offensive linemen in this draft."
SI -
"The Buccaneers need to add reinforcements to their interior offensive line. After a strong rookie season, Cody Mauch is a promising building block. But there's two other spots along the interior that need to be upgraded"
BIGGS - maybe you think Kyle Trask will be the starter and he doesn't need interior line help? YOU CALLED FOR TRASK TO START IN OCTOBER . . . right?
:-)
The Bucs don't view it as gambling with Diaby as I don't think they see it as a conversation of having one elite player at edge or Diaby takes the next step. They need a complete rotation which is what the Ravans did last year.
So my thinking is the Bucs draft an edge and sign a vet edge post draft and keep the best five for the rotation.
Keep in mind that LVD, Whitehead and Winfield are all very good blitzers so this team is still going to be blitz heavy.
Right now the Bucs needs an edge opposite of Diaby. Next, the Bucs need to figure out who is the best next edge off the bench? JTS, Nelson, Watts or newly signed vet edge???
Before Simeon Rice was signed the Bucs had Sapp on the inside but they also had a rotation of players at DE. Having two edge defenders like Shaq and JPP is very, very rare an hard for any team do it within salary cap restraints.
On offense the Bucs need to address one of the interior OL positions I would prefer the Bucs swing for the fences for a staring caliber center from the draft from rounds 1-3.
If center and edge is addresses the rest is easy to figure out for the Bucs through the draft and undrafted free agents in my opinion regarding boundary CB, boundary WR, RB and ILB for developmental purposes.

Since the table only shows "WHERE the pressure came from .. . ON A RELATIVE SCALE", can you tell me which direction the pressure came from on the pressures ascribed to the QB?
Go take a seat in the corner, dunce.

Outrageous thought!
(kidding, of course)
