A recent report by CBS Sports Insider Jason La Canfora said that teams have inquired about trading for Bucs Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis. PewterReport.com shares our thoughts on why parting ways with Revis isn't the best idea for the franchise. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=20&view=item&layout=item&id=9652
OK so it makes the Bucs worse in 2014, what's the big deal? It makes us better in 2016, 2017, 2018, etc. After all, this is a rebuilding job whether people want to admit it or not. Also the Bucs salary structure is a disaster. We have 3 of the 33 highest cap numbers of 2014, and none of them is a QB.

Because the QB we picked sucked.
How can you call it a mistake without knowing the compensation?

No we just let HoFamers like Freeman and McCown go

We have been rebuilding since the last decade.

No we haven't. We've just sucked. Dominik's first move was trading a #2 and #5 for a high priced, injured veteran and was frequently trading up in the draft. That's not rebuilding.
If we trade Revis there should be riots in Tampa.

Especially that trade up for a QB in the first round... He laid an egg there. If that guy actually worked out we would have been set.
I think it is quite possible that the Bucs deal Revis. A large part of why Dominik was fired was probably for poor decision on how to use the payroll. It's not so much whether Revis is worth his salary, but more of what else could you do with that money? If Lovie had to choose between a shutdown corner and a dominant d lineman, there is do doubt what his choice would be.

We are already in position to have both.
Why is this even a story? We spent last year filling up almost 100 pages about why we needed Revis. Yet now it's a good idea to get rid of one of the best CB's in the game? Draft picks or not it won't be a great way of fixing what we have now. It will only create another hole.

The people like shiny new toys.
Unless it's for multiple picks or players leave it alone
