If you are the Texans and you want Revis...we will give you him our #7 and a 2015 4th rounder...for the #1 pickthats about the extent I would go anything less is not worthy of this guy

I wouldn't trade Revis to move up in the draft.  If I'm trading Revis I want the pick straight up.

Darrelle Revis and a 2nd year 2nd round pick and people are trying to change the corner position? Jesus. Unless you get a pick better than the one we have now to put us in a position to take Manziel or Bridgewater, considering trading Revis is a waste of time.

I don't think it was a mistake at all. There are lots of things to call out Dom for, but I don't see how this is one of them. I'm in the "trade if blown away" category, btw.

It's already a mistake by default. If the Bucs didn't make the trade we would have had a #1 last year, #3 this year and be $50M under the salary cap right with Revis as an unrestricted free agent (Jets forfeited their ability to tag him in new contract). Dominik gave up a #1and #3 for the rights to get Revis a year early... a 4-12 year.

Why do you harp on cap room all the time when you're seemingly against paying everybody?

...because we are gonna need $25million freed up for 2015 FA after Freeman goes to Cincinnati in '14 and is the league MVP...then we can back up the Brinks truck so that he can continue his HOF career in Tampa....

I'm not against paying everyone. I just don't like having players with massive cap numbers. Other than QB I would  prefer players making under $7-8M. The San Francisco 49ers model http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/cap-hit/

Top 5 cap numbersBucs- 62.4M49ers- 36.9MPicks in first 3 roundsBucs- 249ers- 5Guess they're doing it wrong? They need to use our model since it's so perfect.

Yea we need to get rid of revis asap. It's not like our fa's haven't been bust the last 3 years (sans vjax) or anything.were gonna need that extra 16 mill then our star cb 2 years removed. That's finally 100% fa always works out right guys? And your saying we can get more draft picks? Don't even get me started about how good we've drafted.the last 5 or so years. We've been so good it's almost unfair what do we need to keep a future hof cb for?

The 4-12 stuff is hindsight - we have opinions about where our record is going to be in advance of the season, but those are guesses. CB was a huge hole on this team, and given the type of D Schiano claimed to want to run, a very good fit (and maybe even a more important position than it is for the new D). If we are going to use the team record as a mistake, then by definition pretty much all 53 are mistakes. I don't know what numbers you are using, but when I cut Revis from the team at over the cap I get $31 million in cap room, not $50 million. The chances of us winning a bid for Revis in an open market would have been extremely slim. If you are using some sort of roll-over from last year (and then rounding up), I think you assume too much about what our spending would have been in the absence of Revis. I'm not a fan of the 3rd but it's defensible given the quality of the player, and the first was a reasonable price. Regardless, the cap is not a significant impediment to this team's future success. For one thing, there are easy cuts to be made if we desire. In addition, the reality is that the cap is going up at a pretty quick rate - as I understand it, next year's cap could see $150 million.

A team that's been to back-to-back-to-back NFC Championship games runs their team the exact opposite as the Bucs and all you have to say is "That's good for them" ? You know how I know you're beat?

Revis is different from the other 52 players because we gave up a #1 and #3 to get him. The move was saying "The Revis deal makes us an elite team. Let's not wait until 2014, let's get him now!". And after defending the Glazers on here for years about the spending, I lost a lot of respect for them as owners after they allowed Schiano and Dominik to trade a future 3rd round pick when they obviously didn't have job security. I got the $50M number by taking our current cap space (18M) and add Revis' 2013 and 2014 cap numbers. If Dominik didn't make the Revis deal and was still here the chances of him signing Revis as a UFA would have been alot better than "slim". Probably would have been 50/50. You're about me assuming too much about what Dominik would have done if he didn't sign Revis. He probably would have given Eric Wright an extension after staying clean for 10 days.

No, you must remember that JC wouldn't offer Freeman an extension until AFTER he finished rehab.
