Bryce Young had the best game of his career. What part of that means our defense over performed?
Cousins best two games this year came against the Bucs.
Bowles may not control the edge rushers that Licht signs or drafts but he can control how much off and quarter coverage the defense plays. That is way too much for a professional defense to playing this style of defense. Bowles corners are tall corners with straight line speed and they are at their best playing m2m not short, explosive squatty corners that can explode to the ball in off coverage play.
Bryce Young had the best game of his career.
His stats are similar to the Chiefs game last week.
The defense has been way below average, coughing up close to 30 pts a game.
the defense has been so bad that posters have been asking for an average defense to go with our superb offense.
you just saw an average defense keep our SUBSTANDARD offense in the game so that they could win it at the end. This includes a series where the D comes up with a turnover after being screwed by their kicker
Low enough for Nelly to punch the ball out in OT.Guess the bar is set embarrassingly low for the Bowles Brigade.
Not surprising. 🤷♂️
Fighting through and not giving up is an interesting trait for defensive players that have been struggling through some injuries and poor play from too many JAG’s in starting roles…but they fighting all the same. In fact, they don’t give up.
Despite being the worst performing side of the ball this season - these defenders fight till the end.
I also wouldn’t categorize Carolina’s defense as being bad…nor their offense, it took awhile for them to figure it out with Bryce Young - but it’s pretty obvious they’ve done it. Just ask Pat Mahomes, about both.
Man, the Glazers do NOT read the red board. Acknowledging a defensive performance is not going to get Bowles an extension lol
THIS IS SR
”
The Panthers offense is normally at their best when they get their run game going. But despite their best efforts, they were unable to do so against the Bucs defense.
Chuba Hubbard, who has been one of the best running backs in the NFL this year, was held to 34 yards on nine carries while Jonathan Brooks added 18 yards on six totes of his own.
This was most important late in the third quarter when the Panthers were set up in the red zone by a Baker Mayfield interception. The Bucs run defense would hold down at the goal line and force the Panthers’ fourth field goal attempt of the game.
On that drive, the Panthers ran the ball three times for just 11 yards and the defense kept the team in the game at 16-10 in favor of the Panther”
COME ON

You're right.
The defense over-performed and was outstanding today.
Hopefully, we extend Bowles tomorrow.
The Bucs Run defense and AWJ fill two slots in the “Most impressive” article

A win is a win!
Absolutely. I said it was going to be a close one score game. The Panthers are no joke, and we are lucky to get by them. Of course we should have lost were it not for Nelson's strip. That was a season saving play.A win is a win!

In Crazy Town, the defense “over performs” when they increase their opponents scoring average - even with missed TD calls and missed Field Goals by the NFL’s most accurate kicker.
The offense, defense, and special teams underperformed today. The HC didn’t have his team ready to play. Lots of sloppy today. The team was lucky to leave Carolina with a W.

these are all basically playoff games. Win or go home. So yes, season saving play and win.
The issue with the defense is 90% scheme/play calling and 10% talent.
We are middle of the pack in talent with the worst LB group in football. It's so bad Devin White would be an upgrade.
The issue that Todd Bowles is sooooo fucking predictable. That key third down one-handed catch by Theilen was the most obvious all out blitz ever. Everyone knew it was coming.
He does it every time...
In fact he spent all game blitzing with zero results. We recorded one sack and it wasn't a blitz.
There were a few times where the blitz generated some pressure but I sure as shit should hope so with how many people he sends.
So there must have been 20+ blitzes during the game and not one sack.
He plays zone instead of bump and run. He doesn't scheme to our talent.
He's just burnt toast.

This sounds like hyperbole, but it isn’t. Huge play by Nelson. Game ball.

Biggs, in the other thread you’re talking about the Panthers passing 40 plus times.
you don’t seem to get that you’re undercutting yourself
and THAT is just extra sprinkle of holiday cheer!
go Bucs!
