The issue that Todd Bowles is sooooo fucking predictable. That key third down one-handed catch by Theilen was the most obvious all out blitz ever. Everyone knew it was coming.
Absolutely
The issue with the defense is 90% scheme/play calling and 10% talent.
We are middle of the pack in talent with the worst LB group in football. It's so bad Devin White would be an upgrade.

He does it every time...
In fact he spent all game blitzing with zero results. We recorded one sack and it wasn't a blitz.
There were a few times where the blitz generated some pressure but I sure as shit should hope so with how many people he sends.
So there must have been 20+ blitzes during the game and not one sack.
He plays zone instead of bump and run. He doesn't scheme to our talent.
He's just burnt toast.
There's literally only 2 posters defending him at this point.
It's crazy how there's still that many.
Tbh he would sit in zone and still get burned at least with zero we can at least focus on getting better at man. In zone we play bend dont break and get diced up to fg range where we get a stop becuase its harder to move with less room
In zone their offense is college open in man at least theyre nfl open
Saying the defense OVER performed in this game - as compared to themselves or even the Chiefs lol - is NOT defending Bowles lmao
its saying that in this game the offense sucked most of the game and the defense got stops including when they really needed it AND THAT IS NOT THE NORM.
The Bowles hatred is blinding to some. Who cares about Bowles? He’s probably not here next year. You’re ROOTING for the Bucs and they just won’t what amount to a playoff game. And YES the defense was a part of the win. Lately it has been the REASON for losses lol
So, apparently these two concepts are only mutually exclusive.Low enough for Nelly to punch the ball out in OT.Guess the bar is set embarrassingly low for the Bowles Brigade.
Not surprising. 🤷♂️
Fighting through and not giving up is an interesting trait for defensive players that have been struggling through some injuries and poor play from too many JAG’s in starting roles…but they fighting all the same. In fact, they don’t give up.
Despite being the worst performing side of the ball this season - these defenders fight till the end.
I also wouldn’t categorize Carolina’s defense as being bad…nor their offense, it took awhile for them to figure it out with Bryce Young - but it’s pretty obvious they’ve done it. Just ask Pat Mahomes, about both.
You're right.
The defense over-performed and was outstanding today.
Hopefully, we extend Bowles tomorrow.
lol

With a four man legit pass rush it is harder to throw against a zone versus a m2m coverage. Zone defense works best when you can sit many player in zone and they react while you only use a four man pass rush.
Bowles sending blitzes and then playing off/quarters coverage doesn't make sense. The way that Flores and Mac play off/quarters coverage is the have a spy sit in the middle or have a safety sit a shallow zone to counter any passes in the middle. That would also solve the issue of not having a ILB that can drop into coverage for the Bucs.

the strawman is never far away. Phantoms are easier than facts.
Nope, but there are a lot of fans that can enjoy a win without pissing on Bowles. The issue with the defense is 90% scheme/play calling and 10% talent.

Agreed.
I can see it in 3rd and long to force the underneath throw and tackle but over and over it’s tough to watch

I'm doing what 95% of Bucs Twitter and other social media is doing.
Enjoying the win and calling out the fact that Bowles is an awful HC.
Victory Monday awaits!

Ah yes.
You got that list of posters who aren't happy with the win yet?
After watching some of the replay, it does look like Mike is recovering well from the hammy.
He had some cuts and breaks on his routes that looked more fluid than last week. Starting to look like the guy we know.
Hopefully, he's getting closer to 100%.

If that doesn’t make it right I don’t know what does!
