That is THE single biggest issue for this team. I have been screaming about this for a few years now.This year we saw the ramifications. We are consistently inconsistent on offense. The OL is a big reason why.

It's not that he doesn't know how, it's that he doesn't want to. Much like Schiano he is convinced of an alternate version of reality and will not change. He thinks it is better to grab guys off of practice squads and waivers than drafting OL.
Well, O-Line is statically the position most likely to find a Pro Bowl player undrafted so why would you spend a first rounder when you can just pickup and develop lineman
I don't think the O-line is really in shambles. Joseph has been hurt, Nicks has an infection. Penn is not an elite LT, but he's a decent one. Dotson has been playing well and so has Meredith. Zuttah could be upgraded, and quality depth is a concern, but overall, I think that getting healthy and good coaching can make this unit above average. I think another big issue with the line is the fact that we don't have a TE that can help on double teams. Wright is not a blocker. He gives us nothing there. We are running a run-first offense that wants to take shots downfield without a TE that can run block or pass block. That's going to put more pressure on the O-Line than need be.

We go into the start of training camp reading those names on the roster and thinking the Oline is a strength and then they suck during the season and we repeat the process. That being said it probably is time to forget what they look like on paper and forget the fact that half of them have been to a probowl in the past and face the reality that the Oline has let us down the last 3 years. I'm personally not concerned screwing up Oline picks in the draft. Its not can he draft Oline, its will he draft Oline.

Dom has specifically stated that he doesn't believe in drafting OL at all. That he wants tape of them on a pro team before he signs them because he feels you cant properly evaluate them based on college. It's not because we "look good on paper before the season".

This is correct, and very evident in his drafts since he's been here.
Thats why I wouldn't be opposed to doubling up on lineman in April

Heck, you don't want to FA up your line because it is expensive you want to be drafting guys and rolling them in as cheap albor. You pay one or two studs on the line and surround them with cheap but competent talent.
