Cam Newton is showing today just how valuable a QB who can run can be in the playoffs. He is running the zone read to perfection against a very good Arizona defense. Mariota just gives you that added dimension that a pure pocket QB cannot. There are going to be games where you need critical first downs and the throwing lanes just are not there. There is nothing more back-breaking to a defense than a QB who can create plays with his feet and arm.
