Report: Payton won't be fired, may be traded CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Saints will not fire Sean Payton, but the team would be open to trading their head coach.The Saints scuttling the idea of firing Payton does not necessarily mean they want him to stay around. Payton would be a hot commodity if he ever hit the open market, so it makes more sense for the Saints to attempt to get something in return rather than firing him outright. La Canfora reports the Dolphins are "very interested" in Payton, but every team with an opening this offseason would likely give the Saints at least a call.
