as your own dumbass "wheelhouse" argument,
That was your argument ^^^
and this is hilarious coming from you
an intellectually dishonest sack of shit.
Mr. "intellectual honesty," did you call for Trask to start in October?
Biggs, it only took 3 or 4 posts for you to walk yourself into that ^^^ lol
That was your argument ^^^
Geezus, you can't help yourself. The intellectual dishonesty never ends. And it continues here:
Mr. "intellectual honesty," did you call for Trask to start in October?
Since it's in dork-bold, I suppose I have to address the topic you incessantly litter the board with. To my never-ending shame, I agreed with this asshole in October:
I'd love to see what Trask can do
Thankfully, Mayfield had fewer clunkers as the season progressed and played well in the playoffs.
If YOU want to counter (and Biggs wants to PIGGYBACK) with completion percentage, thats fair. Mayfield is probably top 10ish in both COMPLETED 20 and 40 yard passes? Definitely helps to have Evans :-). Basically middle of the pack air yards etc. Canales offense
I'll help you out, since you don't want to look (and I'm pretty sure I know why).
There were only 3 qualifying QB's in the league with less than a 30% completion percentage on deep passes (Target depth of 20+ yards) last season.
One was Bryce Young. Another was Mac Jones. Any guess as to who the other was?
Here's a hint. It's the same QB who was ranked 20th of 32 QB's in completion percentage on intermediate passes (Target depth of 10-19 yards).

Nobody is arguing whether or not he has a big arm. But, having a big arm doesn't automatically equate to being an elite deep ball passer.
But, keep banging that drum...and mentioning Trask every other sentence.
Like I said, the way you obsess with names that start with "TR". Whoo boy!
TRiggered is an understatement.
being an elite deep ball passer.
well, I wouldn't expect you or anyone to remember the "wheelhouse" conversation BUT it was NOT that Mayfield was either am "elite deep ball passer" or NOT.
The conversation was Biggs DENYING that Mayfield had the deep throw "in his wheelhouse" . . . while playing in the NFL."
That is the key point. While playing in the NFL.
Here's Biggs responding to another poster who ACCURATELY pointed out that long balls were in Mayfield "wheelhouse" in college:
It would have been nice for Mayfield to bring his "wheelhouse" with him to the NFL, as we (some of us) watched him miss deep balls (by bad throws or not seeing/throwing) all year.
So, Biggs comment above is about his CAREER IN THE NFL, but note that just like you Biggs focus is JUST on his time as a Buccaneer., a fraction of his carreer.
The part about NFL career is the part that is UNTRUE because he has had years -- despite all the crazy changes he's faced - where he was near the top of deep ball throwing. Here's just one example -- offered only for the level of detail - STATISTICALLY ranking Mayfield ahead of Brady and even Burrow (a super accurate passer) and other for DEEP PASSING:
https://brickwallblitz.com/2021/02/16/the-2020-21-deep-ball-project-part-3-3/
But you can find similar comments all over, from a number of sources, including right here on PR talking about last year, ironically:
"Mayfield was also one of the worst downfield quarterbacks in the league, an area of the game he had historically excelled at. Among 40 qualified passers, Mayfield ranked 39th in adjusted completion percentage and 33rd in yards per attempt on passes of 20+ air yards.ards."
Or Pro Football Focus calling Mayfield and Cousins "two of the best deep passers in the NFL"
or, Next Gen Stats, which Biggs hilariously called "some guy's stats" in thread where his original quote is found
https://x.com/QBDataMine/status/1373666794418941956
Mayfield .#1 deep thrower with Browns
just another example

Naturally, you are full of crap and that was exactly what it was about. It's no surprise you are attempting to move the goalposts, as it's pretty much all you have. I hear Mayfield has a strong arm though - "wheelhouse".
Intellectually dishonest, flat-out liar, and clueless buffoon. It's one helluva combo.

I actually quoted you lol. Here it is AGAIN. You were asked if you ever watched Baker in college because deep throwing was in his "wheelhouse" in college
I also watched Timmy Chang toss the ball around the yard in college. Didn't mean a whole helluva lot in the NFL. It would have been nice for Mayfield to bring his "wheelhouse" with him to the NFL, as we (some of us) watched him miss deep balls (by bad throws or not seeing/throwing) all yea
This is why I then posted Next Gen Stats for you lmao. YOU KEEP OUTING YOURSELF
By the way, when he went to the panthers that Pan thers put up this collection of highlights from his FOUR years with the Browns
https://www.panthers.com/video/highlights-baker-mayfield-best-plays-with-cleveland-browns
almost every pass is 20+ air yards
This is like discussing quantum mechanics with a neanderthal, a wholly fruitless endeavor.
You can have the last word that you desperately need, in thread after thread after thread after thread.
Biggs, you keep calling my post dishonest and here you try (but fail) to make that point by CLIPPING A QUOTE TO CREATE A FALSE IMPRESSION

THIS IS THE FULL QUOTE from my post lol stating that it WOULD NOT HAPPEN . . because of the playoffs:
I'd love to see what Trask can do BUT this season is INTENTIONALLY a wash for the team*, but never for a HC, and there is still a playoff hope.
You keep outing yourself because, HILARIOUSLY, by clipping my quote (rather than just admit you were wrong) you led the way to your October 27th post, rich as it is in FOOTBALL ACUMEN:
It's time for the organization to find out if Trask is the same, better, or worse.
and that October 27th post led to you later saying the playoffs didnt matter because the Bucs were not a young team
:-)
October 2023
Baker Mayfield turns out to be Baker Mayfield. He's a back-up NFL QB or starter on a bottom-10 team.
It's time for the organization to find out if Trask is the same, better, or worse.
August 2024
Thankfully, Mayfield had fewer clunkers as the season progressed and played well in the playoffs.
draft pick over playoffs
there is a possibility that Trask performs better than Mayfield? However tiny you believe that possibility to be, it still exists.
And if Trask is worse, the organization will get a better draft pick.
this one was hilarious
I'm guessing Evans, at least, would welcome the change.
and the best "yeah our criticism is unfair but thats the life of a QB"
We all know QB’s rarely get the credit when things go great or any of the blame when things suck. Those that understand football know these things, people
The fans of most teams that had a QB that was rated as being in the bottom half of the league would say that a change is due. ESPN's QBR had Baker rated at #18. Most publications have baker rated around there. Sure, some will cherry pick some stats to argue that Baker is better than that. But as a 5th year player, who by many accounts had the best season of his career only ended up as the 18th ranked QB. Maybe after the years of having bad QB's (other than Brady) maybe the expectations of many Bucs fans are too low.

Thats a great post and may be spot on. Many fans may have too low of expectations
One other explanation though might be that some fans see unexpected success during a time when the team is actually rebuilding (shedding dead cap, many UDFA, no FAs etc) and the team that went to the playoffs last year COULD possibly be even better this year with another year of experience, a better line and hopefully better running game and hopefully a better defense and hopefully a better OC, so enjoy the ride because - key point - he was the only QB we were having anyway.
And, if it doesn't work out it is not like the team is heavily committed to him. He has a salary that is sort of in line with his QBR rating and no long term commitment.
I typically loath retrospective posts, I used to participate, I just don’t have the time, and I’ve lost the desire to prove a point.
Some are pretty funny, though.
I agree with @badtimes (and BC), I appreciate the context in both of these last posts. We were/ARE in the exact spot DG & Biggs want to keep us out of - and this front office seems to be pulling this off.
I don’t overrate Mayfield, I appreciate the fact that we know who he is, that he has talent & leadership qualities that fit into the offense we appear to be installing.
Like me, I know Biggs has been around for a lot of losing. Hard not to see that we’re setting ourselves up for Lucy pulling the football away, just as Charlie Brown approaches …it has been a franchise trademark.
I just think we finally have some smart folks in the front office that have been allowed to build this thing around a model and a vision. They brought in the right mix of coaches and talent on both sides of the ball to sustain winning.
i don’t know this to be true, but the deck certainly seemed to be stacked against the Bucs last season, and our (or at least MY) expectations of the team at the beginning of the season, were surpassed by the results at the end of last season. This offseason wasn’t spectacular, but it was solid enough that I think we continued that success. Something seems to have changed.
I know for me, I’d agree that because we didn’t have a choice, we reached for the one QB that DID make the difference and willed this team to a better record and finish than anyone already ON our roster.
We fans deserve that kind of luck. Mayfield is not Mahomes, but he’s enough.
