I wonder if shorter contracts might not be the new thing in the NFL. Look at what Tunsil did for himself. Twice now he's signed short contracts that made him the highest paid LT in the league.
Maybe Baker wanted a 3-year deal, or if not, maybe he'll see the advantage of it in two seasons. He could prove himself over the next two seasons and collect that $50M/yr deal in his next contract/extension. Rinse and repeat, like Tunsil. One thing's for sure, if he can play about as well as he did last season or better, and prove he can be consistent in 2025, he's going to be worth a lot more than $40M/yr.
